Because the owners care more about making money than winning. People are still going to waste money on the damn team whether we go 16-0 or 0-16. Woody Johnson doesn't give a single shit about any fan. His antics this year trying to get Trump elected while the team went down in flames is proof enough. Forcing Tebow on Rex Ryan. Etc. It's purely about squeezing dollars out of us and the Jets don't have to win to do it.

Without question. But you would also have to include the Dolphins and Bills. Gift wrapped division that guarantees a home playoff game year in and year out. Pats should be in a division with the Broncos, Steelers and Colts. Much more parity that way. Or the Jets should get better, but they won't.

The worst playoffs I can really remember. There have been two competitive games in Cowboys/Packers and Chiefs/Steelers. Chiefs/Steelers was boring as hell with little big offensive players too.

    Unbelievable.

Really now? One division has the Colts, Titans, Jags and Texans. NFC West had the Cardinals, Rams and 49ers. AFC East isn't even close to being the worst division. And it doesn't really matter: Pats winning percentage against the rest of the NFL is pretty much identical with their record vs the AFC East.

When was the last time both championship games were complete duds like we got yesterday? Both games were pretty much decided by the end of the first quarter and I didn't make it through either of them. It is a shame how pathetic the NFL has become over the last 10 years.

Over the last 10 seasons, 9 different teams have won the Super Bowl (2x for Giants). The path may not be pretty, but the end results are pretty even.

I am fine with the varying amount of teams winning the SB. The problem I have is I enjoy watching competitive games and in concern to the playoffs besides the dallas/gb game the rest of the league has failed to bring any competitive football to the fans. The AFC and NFC championships games are supposed to be an intense spectacle getting you pumped for the superbowl. There was nothing intense about yesterdays games at all. The NFL this year has been pretty disappointing in providing intense, competitive games this year imho.

the nfl has been hell bent on parody for the past 2 decades, so much that i feel that the entire league has become mediocre and then you have a couple guys who do things well and a coach who has better plans and you end up with one team in the superbowl every other year.

    its all rather ironic.

I'm falling out of love with the NFL because of the Jets.

I just don't care about these games anymore.

Same here...Its just not the same. I love the tension, but with all the issues lately with the league and constant reliance of simply have a franchise QB to only have a chance to get to the big game has made the NFL almost a one trick pony.

Either the rest of the other franchise are simply doing a bad job or something has gone wrong here as the rules have changed over the past 30 years.

In any business there are Leaders and Followers

In the NFL the Leadership is the hated Pats

    Why?? Bill Bellichek

As previous posters have mentioned outside the Lombardi era he is the GOAT of the modern football time period..Not Shula not Knolls , not even Parcells his mentor ......BB

Forget whether Shady Tom retires ..Belli can turn garbage into rocket fuel, he does it year after roster year

We all don't like him personally ..but winning is just nothin personal

We should learn whatever he is doing and do it ..Simple as that

Of course you must have some modicum of intelligence to do this and the Jets CS doesn't come close

    Pathetic shame we lost Parcells

Pathetic shame we handed NE Bellichek

    Yep...just pathetic

    jmho

"Parity" is the word. The afc east lacks any semblance of "parity".

Move the pats into a division where it might be a challenge to win said division... like Pitt, Denver, and one other very unlucky team (KC maybe)... all in one division. Let those teams face each other twice a year. Instead, of this foregone conclusion that the pats will host at least one home game in the post season, before kickoff week 1 of preseason.

Move the jets into a division with the browns, jags, and bills. Just 4 completely shit fucking teams that deserve shit, but one will evidently host a home play off game in the post season. Kind of like the afc South (Houston has no business hosting a home playoff game, save from the fact that their division is utter shit). , sort of like the NFC west minus the Seahawks.

Divisions should either change every season or dump divisions and just have 2 conferences.

Here's one for you, the pats will host at least one home playoff game next season. I don't even have to guess, I would put all my money on that fact bc it's a foregone conclusion. There is no parity in the afc east. One team is A+++ the other 3 are F.

    It's broken.

Sunday's Patriot win evened the all time series at 15-15, with the Patriots having a 4-1 playoff advantage.

So you think shitty teams deserve a home playoff game? Sounds a lot like everyone gets a participation trophy to me.

I think the NFL lacks parity. I think the current division sturcture is a major reason why there is little parity. Plenty of "parody" watching the pats kick the shit out of the inept bills, jets and phins twice a year... just not enough "parity" in the play between the teams.

I think a home football game is a huge advantage, especially in the post season. A shitty team in Houston dismantled a quality team in Oakland (understandably with Carr out). A home game in the post season for a bad team that won there division probably proves more parity.

I'm not for participation trophies. I do think the NFL needs to look at the current division structure. I lean more toward 2 conferences and no divisions. I think playing lousy teams twice a year is a poor structure.
