I don't think how I happen to feel about so little information is very enlightening for anybody. Kellen hasn't been provided with enough exposure to file a definitive judgment on, in my opinion. I happen to like the fact that he doesn't give up easily. I think he knows full well when he makes a mistake, and he's still making a helluva lot of them. He has good mobility, but he still has to learn how to shift in the pocket to buy more time rather than just rely on his legs to escape the pocket. Most of all, I think he listens and he appears to be coachable.
Quote: "...He doesn't have the size of today's NFL QB stars..." There is a grave tendency to look for basketball players instead of football players to gain an edge in the NFL. Even Mangini has flirted with this fad. I don't happen to agree with it, as I feel that basketball players are pansy-asses compared to football players. But, then, this is just a personal prejudice. I don't expect ANYONE to understand how I could have arrived at such a bias...
It's not so much that as it is being able to see over the ever increasing size of defensive linemen instead of having to run to one side or the other to find your receiver.Clemens is listed at 6'2" and Pennington at 6'3" but if you look at them standing next to each other there appears to be more than an inch difference. The reall y good QBs in the league now are usually 6'4"-6'5".
The fact is, if you're good, you're good. If you're bad, you're bad. It doesnt matter if you played Basketball in the past or if you played 'hide n seek in the past.
You don't need to post video clips for this 'opinion'. Neither do I. But a pretty dumb comment. What do you mean he cant do it consistently??? The damn question was, he has a weak arm. He threw 40+yd passes. If he can do it once, that means he has the arm strength. CONSISTENTLY??? Like, does he gain arm strength once in a yr and once that strength is used up, he cant 'ACTIVATE' it again? Once again, pretty dumb comment.
The problem with throwing them consistently has more to do with time to throw (OL issues) and the WR being open to receive the pass than it does with his arm strength. Because his arm is weaker I think that makes a difference in his taking less chances to fit a ball in places though. I think there is more of a "take what the defense gives" mentality, but that can be equally attributed by his being a smart QB and not wanting to create turnovers as it is his inability to make certain throws.
McCareins did lose a game a piece for both QBs (Ravens and Pats) but, i find that Clemens had more GW-drive opportunities in his 7 starts than CP did, and we were in nearly every game last year. Thats an aspect i look at and it moves me closer to the pro-Clemens side of this great debate.
NDmick, this is a good reason why those people giving up on Kellen are out to lunch. Thanks for pointing out that "aspect".
Can we lock this thread, its been talked about to the point where there is no reason to talk about this bullshit anymore. Let this thread die...
