I think we should be just like the browns and trade our qb in the first week of the season. They are so successful.

Could not have said it any better myself. I'm intrested to see what we have in Kellen, but I don't see him putting up great numbers with the protection he's going to get.

Those who think there is no way possible he supplants Chad if he plays wewll and wins are fooling themselves. If, and its a big one, Kellen leads the team to several wins there is little doubt the team will become his.

His younger, cheaper, and has less of an injury history.

I like Chad and wish him well, but if he's unable to go and Kellen is very good from the start, we may have seen the last of him.

There is no way they would give us a first rounder, and is we do that we are throwing away the season. Are you ready to throw away the season after one bad loss? Think about it, doing that puts us in rebuilding mode, you don't just find another top calibre QB like it's a sure thing.

Sure it's just a thought, an idea, but it's a brutal one.

By the way, you say Chad will never take us deep into the playoffs. Remember Doug Brien? remember that Chad played during those playoffs with an injured shoulder? If that kick had gone through the posts we'd have been deep into the playoffs. If a big armed QB is going to be the factor that gets a team deep into the playoffs, why are Tuiasosopo and Ramsey 3rd stringers?

The argument that people keep twisting the strong-armed QB into is: there are some strong-armed QB's who can't win therefore a strong arm is not necessary.

Ever hear of John Witkowski? Columbia's starting QB in 1981 and 1982. Went in like the 6th round to the Detroit Lions. 155 IQ. He never won a game in the NFL. Therefore a smart QB is not necessary either.

Is that the same Jon Witkowski who played for the London Monarchs in the first season of the WLAF back in 1991? He was beaten out by Stan Gelbaugh, who led the Monarchs to a victory in the World Bowl that year.

Very possibly the same guy. I went to Columbia with him which is how I know his story. Extraordinarily cerebral QB who did not have the physical assets to make it in the NFL. The Lions drafted his brain, which may explain why they've been so bad for so long.

I've always wondered why Witkowski did not wind up coaching in the NFL somewhere. He'd probably have been a great offensive coordinator.

Yeah, I'm bumping this one again.

With Tarvaris Jackson looking like absolute garbage for the Vikings, a Pennington-to-the-Vikings trade could happen after this season.

I suspected 2007 would be Pennington's final year with the Jets. I also suspect he's not going to start many games anywhere after this season. I think he's going to have to do the Bernie Kosar thing and be a backup and get the occasional spot start here on out.

Thanks for resurrecting my post from last January. I thought back then they should have moved him last offseason

I think fair value is a 6th round selection.

I'd be happy with the next Marc Bulger or Derek Anderson. I believe they are both 6th round picks. There's just something about that round apparently.

Ehh...Derek Anderson will come back down to earth, and look what Marc Bulger is doing now without a running game and an o-line.

    He's playing worse than Pennington.

I'd much rather have Giovanni Carmazzi as my starting QB.

I don't see us getting anything for Chad UNLESS there are multiple teams vying for his services. So far I can only see the Vikings making the move...and if its only one team all they have to do is wait for him to get cut. Even so if we trade him for a 5-6th rounder that's not big accomplishment.
