Well, you don't need to work too hard to figure out how many QBs had great numbers, since Chad homers define great as "better than Chad" all you have to do is look through the Bears schedule and see how many times opposing teams were not shut out. A quick look tells me there are 10 Elite QBs in the NFL that have done well against the Bears. There is only one other QB in the NFL who didn't have a "great" game against the Bears, and that is Favre from Week 1, the Bears only other shutout win of the season. The way some of you guys make excuses, you'd think the Bears had shut every single team out this season.
Nuts! Yeah, you see how starting a rookie worked out for Denver. Pennington is a good QB and we'd be in the toilet without him.
I can't even begin to imagine how this thread is serious.. The original poster was serious about starting an unproven rookie over a QB who just had a great individual performance & has led this team to an unexpected 7 wins so far? Now I don't know if Penny is the future of this team but there is no question he is & should be the present. This is a ridiculous thread, how in the world did it get to 4 pages??
Chad is underatted on here becuase he does al lot of things that you guys just dont notice. He brings leadership to the team and you can never underestimate what quality that can give to the rest of the players on the offence. He is pretty accurate most of the time and you have to figure that a lot of teams know we are going to throw the short stuff a lot, but he still gets the ball in there for the receivers. And this season with a new playbook, and new offence and co-ordinator he has taken it all on his shoulders and commands respect from his team mates. yeah he may throw the odd duck, and of course some of you wont be convinced until he turns over a tough defence in a big match. But he is way better than 75% of the starting QB's in this league. And more importantly he suits our style of play and what our offence is trying to do.
Of all the QBs on the Jets roster, Pennington is the right choice. Period. Now, this discussion will be quite different next year.
Defensive rankings are very deceptive. The main reason Oakland, Jax, Miami, and NE are so high in defensive rankings is because these teams are doing very little on offense. So teams playing them don't have to opens things up as much and rarely get those garbage-yard, Jon Kitna type of performances. For instance, Oakland held Houston to something like 36 yards passing yesterday. . . and lost. I am not scared of any of the remaining teams. My only fear is that the Jets implode and put on a performance where any team would beat them (for example, the Cleveland game). But they have momentum now and are gelling. I have faith and I think they'll run the table. Also, neither Denver nor Jax will win out. Cutler sucks and Shanahan is too stubborn to put Plummer back in. And Jax always chokes down the stretch. Use all the math you want but, realistically, the Jets do control their destiny.
Vic Carucci, NFL.cm "Chad Pennington, whose future as the Jets' quarterback was in serious doubt before the season, has keyed the team's rise to a club that commands league-wide respect."
I do recall that ALL positions were up for grabs in training camp this year. I expect that to be the case next year as well.
To Chad Pennington dear chad pennington, I really like you. You're my favorite guy ever. The Jets are my favorite team. I am 5 years old and one day I want to play football just like you! Tyler C:jets:
Man! When I was 5 I would color or play on the street! Go to The Bunker kid, in the Bul...Wait, I mean, BS forum.
There's Brady, and then everybody else. Pennington's smart and efficient and has heart. I wish he'd cut down his int's though. There is no other option, unless you want to erase any progress we made this year and start at square one again. I have confidence that Mangini knows what he's got in Clemens, and when it's his time.
