There are only 2 teams in this league that can win with bad play from their QB, and it is usually a struggle for them, and only against weak teams. In the NFL, if your QB plays badly, you are virtually certain of a loss. If Chad was on any other team aside from the Chargers and Bears, they would also have losses most likely in those games that Chad has sh*t the bed. I don't think Chad is a 12 win QB, he is too inconsistent for that, and if your goal is to win a SB, you expect to win 12 games at least one year. It's debatable whether it was a good idea to start Chad this year or not, but it is what it is, and we really need to move on next year.

Are you going to tell me that 14 t/d and 15 interceptions is GOOD? Our coaches having that team prepared is what has seven wins this year. If we had a better Qb we might have nine wins! We could devise an offensive scheme to win games instead of one not to loose games. We would not have to be perfect in every aspect of the game to win each week. We need a Qb that can overcome two big plays like the ones the bills had this weekend. We need someone who can rally us when we get down.

14 TD's and 15 INT's is decidedly average and he was flat-out awful against the Bears and Bills. You think he's an above average QB? Those days are long gone.

In all this stat posting and "he is too inconsistent" nonsense, has anyone here mentioned that the guy is coming back from 2 shoulder surgeries?

That is a big deal considering there is absolutely no point of reference to judge his performance. This isn't an ACL tear, where there is an established time frame for recovery.

How many QBs have successfully come back from one of these surgeries?

    Jim Harbaugh? NO
    Don Majkowski? NO

Anyone come back from two shoulder sugeries? NO

Chad's performance has been incredible given what he has come back from. And considering the state of the team after last year, I will be happy with my 7-6. Does that mean I don't want more? Of course not. But this isn't Madden football. At some point in time you have to be realistic about the team and its players.

IMO, give Chad the last three games. Lets see how he performs under the pressure of having to pick this team up to win. I am not debating that he can't throw the long ball or stretch the field, etc. However alot of his noticable hiccups this year maybe part of the rehab and recovery process...which as I said before, there isn't an extensive history to compare with.

That being said, next year's camp should be wide-open with Chad and Kellen. But I wouldn't necessaryily count Chad out next year either. With hopefully a full year under his belt, almost 2 years after the surgury, 2 off-seasons to learn the offense, and a normal off-season to recover and rest, he may suprise some people again. Of course all that will matter than is his production in camp and pre-season...but at least give him an opportunity to earn it.

I feel much the same way. A lot of what we see could be a number of things affecting his performance that in time is going to get ironed out and eventually improve. He looked very good the first 2-3 weeks with his arm. Part of it could be fatigue as he has been working it so much. I think the starter each year should be opened up in training camp and evaluated. Let them fight for the position.

As far as QB's coming back from the injury, didn't Drew Brees have the same or similar injury this past off season?
