As much as I hate to say it, the Dolphins aren't as bad as people are making them out to be. They had a piss-poor ST performance, QB had a bad game. It's not like they are the Bills all of a sudden. They are still a solid team, Henne is a good (not great) QB. The only reason I don't think they'll be in the playoff picture is their brutal schedule. I wouldn't write them off just yet.

I agree, they have a solid defense with a good core being built. Wake, Dansby, and Davis are all good players. They need better lineman, we'll see how Odrick turns out.

I think they are poorly coached, on their opening drive against the Pats they were rolling down the field. Then out comes Henne and on 3rd and 5/6 they run the Wild Cat. They need to stop doing that crap.

Bingo. They have a good, young core for that team, although their run game is obviously aging. Henne may improve, given that he shows flashes, but they'll need to address the run game in next year's draft before the wheels fall off in the middle of a season. As far as the organization, if they fail to make the playoffs, I think you see Parcells depart, even with his lesser role. If that happens, I question whether Ireland and Sparano really have the tools to continue to build this foundation.

Henne actually looked good in the first half.

Once the special teams failed, it got to his head and he started throwing lawn darts.

I was actually thinking to myself, damn "Henne is dicing the Patriots up just like he did to the Jets." Then when he started failing I was thinking "Why couldn't this happen to the Jets?"

the dolphins are where they are. they are a 7-9 win team in my opinion (not bad at all) if they were in the NFC i'd say they were teh 4th best team in the divison behind the saints, falcons, and packers

Henne has a top 10 qb arm. the guy can make every possible throw. he does have very questionable vision on short to intermediate throws. dudes got serious tunnel vision when it comes to his reads too.

which is why he looks so awesome making throws on people who are pretty much covered and then shits the bed on basic throws where he should be pump faking or looking the safety off. not much has changed since his college career. the awesome flashes of brilliance coupled with severe mediocrity when it matters most.

I love the fact Sanchez is developing the way he is with such a short body of work also in comparison to Henne having like 40+ college starts and a year behind Pennington before he took over last yr. opposed to the sink or swim treatment Sanchez got.

that being said Vontae Davis is fucking awesome, Dansby is a madman, Wake has proven to be more than a 1 yr wonder. good core they have on defense. Brown is a walking injury whos shelf life will be up soon and Williams is what 33 now?

new RB's and an overhaul of their DL would do them well. if they could also find a better ILB to pair with Dansby theyd be downright scary.

I love Mike Nolan as a DC their biggest pickup in the offseason aside from Marshall.

Trust me, I watched nearly his entire college career. Not even because I'm a Michigan fan (it also helps being in Central NY where a it seems we get a lot of Michigan games), but because Mike Hart played there at the same time and I played against him in high school. As much as Henne helped that team during his career he also handicapped them, which currently is the same path he's showing with the Dolphins.

Mind you Henne has a ton of college experience, has had a great mentor his entire short NFL career so far, and was not a rookie last year, yet he managed to fail in yet again big games..and last year they were against some subpar teams. Which again is similar to his time at Michigan.

By all accounts he has all the tools. But some of the same things that helped keep him off the top of the draft boards is what's holding him back still. And lastly, these are issues while he's playing on very good teams with great offensive lines. Imagine if he was on a terrible team.

Again he has all the physical tools and he's played fairly well, but that one major issue is still destroying him and the teams he plays for.

I second that...a most outstanding post, well thought out and better than any of our 'beat' reporters! Why I keep coming back year, after year to the best message board EVER!

A prime example of this was the last Jets drive in the Miami game. I thought for sure they'd go 3 and out and give them about 5 minutes to kick a FG and win it. What did they do instead? With 6:42 left, they went 80 yards, taking up 4:47 and punched it in the endzone, not just a FG. Not only did they get 7 points, they dragged almost 5 minutes with it. That HAD to be brutal to watch for Dolphins fans.
