I still see a young Ken O'Brien when I see Henne play--for better or worse. Loved O'Brien of course but that's what I see.

I never had a chance to see O'Brien but I see Drew Bledsoe. Strong armed statue. I think that might be the same thing as O'Brien though.

What??? I really don't know where you come up with this stuff....for a player or a coach to say that a loss was on "his shoulders" is not unusual or unheard of, many have said that in the past and I'm sure many will say it in the future.

I understand where you're coming from with this comparison because I looked there too. The problem is that O'Brien was just flatout better than Henne is. His first full season was also his third season and he threw 25 TD's and 8 picks. Then the injuries began to accumulate and he never reached that peak again. He was still a game-changing QB for one season at 25 and Henne just isn't that good.

What the hell is your problem? There are a couple of moves in the past 4-5 years I didn't like, fucking shoot me.

Yeah, I just mean in terms of how they look in the pocket--good accuracy, studies the play but slow to react to pressure. O'Brien had Walker, Toon and Shuler in his early days with a good line and running game. When those tools broke down his play went down with it, but he was a tough, classy guy who hung in there a long time. Henne will do well to have O'Brien's career.

Yeah, stylistically Henne and O'Brien is a good comparison but Henne doesn't have that spark that O'Brien had that let him put the Jets on his shoulders a couple of times a season and pull a game out or dominate a team that should have beaten them.

I'll tell you this, if Henne was being coached and groomed by Rex Ryan and Sanchez was in Miami they are a LOT closer in terms of value. I still can't believe the Fins have only run Brown and Williams 91 times between them in 4 games. What a waste of some true talent.

personally, I think O'brien was a good QB but he held onto the ball wayyyy too long & got sacked a multitude of times negating much of his effectiveness.

I will always hate the jets FO @ the time for picking him over Marino.

Everybody made the same mistake though, which is why Marino wound up on a team with a good offensive line and some talent around him. I wanted Marino also, mainly because the Jets and fans were going to judge the new QB on how he compared to Namath and only Marino (of the people the Jets had a shot at) was going to have a chance to stand up to that comparison. That was one of the richest QB drafts in history and the Jets missed out on the top 3 and didn't win a Super Bowl in the next generation. All of the teams who hit failed to win a Super Bowl also, although Elway's defiance is what did that.

    Stop right there.

It wasnt the "Phins are awesome we're 2-0" It was "Phins are going to the super bowl, we're 2-0"

The Jets had also just gone to the AFC Championship game with Richard Todd, who was 30 and coming off his best two seasons, so QB wasn't really a priority at the time. Nobody figured whoever was drafted would be playing for a while, the way it was commonly done back then. Also, Marino's senior year at Pittsburgh wasn't as good as his junior year, so his stock dropped, which is why so many teams passed him up.

There's a thread on ESPN Insider today that says that Henne's starting job may not be that secure. Even though that probably isn't true, its still funny.

Hehe. Henne's still a solid QB, just had a bad night. Better than anything they have on the bench. Maybe they know something we don't know, but I think that's overreacting a little. The problem is that they are making him throw way too much.

The thing about Henne is the Fins line is really good.. he has a ton of time back there to throw. And he still looked like crap last night.
