Completely agree but that’s not what we were debating. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but Davonta Smith reminds me of Jerry Rice. Similar frame, elite route runner with top end speed when he gets to the second level and most of all the same serious mentality with relentless work ethics. That’s really bold but that’s who comes to mind when you watch this kid.
I just can’t see any way in which a team would draft the WR that didn’t play football this season over the WR that absolutely dominated and won the Heisman.
It's easy. Because if we take Smith we won't have a QB capable of getting him the ball. Darnold would get Smith killed with his inaccurate throws. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd bet that Smith will never be this good in the NFL and he will stay injured and his career won't last very long. It will be a shame, but he's just too thin.
Yea? Kenny Golloday aka Randy Moss 2.0? big drive again by fields and I’m back on board. This Bama d is not like the old d of theirs in 2016
I hope that's a dumb joke because this is potentially one of the best free agent WR classes we've seen, and we're one of few teams with money to spend.
They didn't have the holes we do. It's not ok if you use your brain. It would be totally stupid. We have posters wanting to trade down 2-3 times because of all the holes we have and not enough picks, and yet you and a couple of others want to waste draft picks trading up. SMH
Guys are we serious? Show me smallish WR’s who were VERY injury prone? steve smith? Robbie Anderson? Tyreek Hill? Julian Edelman? Antonio brown? Santana Moss? Wes Welker in his prime (Odell is the exception) Jeez I could google it and there will be like 50 smaller guys who were legit. the small guys just bounce bro- they usually never take clean blasts like slower guys like Mims
Neither of those is a big concern for me. The two things I'm most concerned about Wilson are the previous shoulder surgery on his throwing arm and his slight build and overly aggressive running style. Like Smith, I think he could have a short NFL career, and stay on IR a good bit of the time.
It's impossible to explain for some people. They don't realise strong and skinny does not mean injury prone. Actually more muscle guys usually are more injury prone as they carry more weight for their frame and have more chances in dislocating part of their bodies.
Mahomes, Watson, Rodgers, Dak, Brees, Russ Wilson all say hello. do you think any of them would be any good with the Jets? No chance... no QB development and crappy supporting cast would neuter them. give a new QB a fighting chance. I hope JD gets it.
You just identified 7 guys whose careers spanned over the past 20 years. It's not the absolute norm to be a very thin-framed NFL receiver.
