No I still believe in Fields...He is at 65%, some may say what Fields did against Clemson is more impressive then what Smith is doing to OSU...Ohio State isn't even double teaming Smith! Unless is Smith so far ahead better in terms of reading the field
With those skinny-ass legs of his, his career might be one and done, or at best he might not make it through his rookie contract.
This is the same type of avalanche of scoring that Lawrence faced last year versus LSU and the entire team fed off of it and he looked god awful against an OK defense. It's just backbreaking when you're the opposing offense that has to try to keep up and the defensive energy is firing on all cylinders.
Gase can't get out of his own way. He ruins players and runs the good ones out of town. Did in Miami and in NY.
You're right that a lot of RBs have a short shelf life, but many can start day one, and if Harris helped Fields develop into a star and helped change the culture and turn the Jets into a playoff team, he would have been worth it. I think he will last, however. I can see him having a great 8-10 year career.
Fields is going to start pressing to make up for the nonexistent Buckeye defense and probably throw some picks that people will harp on for weeks saying "See, I told you so!"
think for a minute... what’s the objective here? Are you just trying to eventually luck into a 9-7 season and back into a wild card spot? The AFC is fucking loaded and will only get better. KC’s not going anywhere for 15 years, Bills are only getting better, Indy’s a QB away (River’s can’t throw a 10 yard out), Ravens are loaded, Pittsburgh will always be in the mix, Miami only needs a QB (if it’s Watson we are screwed). Cincy has a stud QB and will be lucky to have a .500 season in the next 6 seasons. Do you really think we are a project QB away from going DEEP into the playoffs. JD better load this team up with players for at least a year before we even think of getting a QB. If he selects a warted QB like Fields or Wilson or Lance this year I’m done. We need to control time of possession, dominate the line of scrimmage and RUN the ball down teams throats. Keep opposing offenses on the sideline. Trade back or take Sewell. Davante, too. I think he’s a stud but that 165lbs wr thing doesn’t work in the NFL.
I hear you. He is afraid to get hit, he is afraid to move. The guy has broken ribs and there is no adrenaline like last time. Let's see the second half, but so far I think he is still the clear #2 pick, though Smith sure is lighting it up. Mac Jones is a baller too, I am hoping he won't slide to Pats.
I’m not a huge Daboll guy but I don’t know how anyone could be against drafting Smith at 2 if Daboll is our coach. He made Diggs the best receiver in football and it was all play design, gameplan and style. There’s a reason Beasley had a career year too (that’s Crowder) and then you have Mims playing the John Brown or probably Gabriel Davis role.
I disagree on that play. There was absolutely no reason to hit him that high. He had to know he was going to hit him in the helmet. I'd have given the kid a lifetime ban.
1-Devonta Smith 1-Najee 2-Jalen Phillips OLB Miami 3-Josh Meyers C OSU 3-Josh Jobe CB Bama That’s the dream draft. One more year of Sam!!!!
So because the rest of the AFC is good we shouldn't take our own crack at getting a Watson or Mahomes and concede to trying to play a 1980s style of football? Tennessee just had their cute little run doing so with a game manager. And now the wheels are going to fall off that train. The only sustainable model is to get a franchise quarterback, build around him and continue to add talent through the draft when you have to let receivers and runningbacks walk. And build a good defense throughout that process with hitting on first round picks.
