Smith is great player for sure but OSU defense is ridiculously unprepared for him. They have no idea where he even is. Most people parroted the idea that we must not get too high or too low on a prospect based on one game, don't do it for Smith right now. NFL defenses don't look like this.
People say DeVonta is fast, he's not a burner, like Tory Holt, he just plays the game fast. Makes his cuts very quick.
Gentlemen, if there is one thing to gather from all of this, the Jets are in a prime spot this draft to make some big time moves and start to put together a solid roster. All lays at the feet of Douglas. We have the picks, we have the money. Now we need the coach and the right players. I'm optimistic as hell, as I normally am. Things are getting exciting
The thing about Smith is that he is very similar to Marvin Harrison. This is a good thing. However it will mean a 4.48-ish 40 at the combine, on an off day maybe a 4.51, and so people will flag him for not enough speed to be elite, which is of course ridiculous. Again, assuming the Jets do not project elite player for him I think the answer if possible is probably to trade down. There are a bunch of good WR's in this class. Getting his buddy Jaylen Waddle on the #7 plus another 2022 1st round pick or multiple 2021 picks is probably better value for the Jets long-term than taking Devonta Smith on the #2. If the Jets think he is an elite premium player? Then jumping on him on the #2 is just fine.
Heard he was a Alpha leader...I want that, whoever it is. I want a good Alpha leader with mamba mentality.
I agree, no excuses for OSU, which is why I've been grilling their defense in every post I've made for the last 5-6 pages. The defense has no idea where he is even lining up on the field. They have linebackers covering him. Hell at times, there's not even a defender within 10-15 yards. That's not roasting a defender, that's a defender being a fucking moron.
Please explain to me why you would take Wilson at #2? He has had one good year and the hardest team he played was UCF. What is the reasoning for you to want him over every other talent in this draft? What makes you want him over Smith? I really don't get the logic in taking him that high
Does it? Joe Douglas might not be able to help himself. I do know that if we take a fuckin right tackle second overall and pass on one of the best college WRs of the last decade, I’ll lose a ton of faith.
Yeah man. They're playing 11 yards off on most of these plays and he's getting the ball in the flat and running for a billion yards as he's only caught two bombs. They just had their middle linebacker running down the seam with him with no safety help. They singled him up with the most overrated corner in the nation in Shaun Wade. Not that it'd work but put a corner 3-4 yards off in a trail technique or jam him and always flank a safety shading his side.
