Yeah some sort of a rotation of all three backs would be interesting. We should use a couple 2 back formations like KC does. Put Blaylock in there with Martin sometimes because he has the speed and Martin has the moves and reputation so defenses will always have to pay attention to both of them. Cedric will still serve as the 3rd guy but get 5 or so carries per game, and if one guy seems to be hot one game then feeed him the ball. Hopefully the "give to Curtis first" mentality is out the window.

then what the title means is that you are saying I'm ready, and to Cedric Houston. what are you ready for from Cedric Houston? right now all I can think of is the Big Gay Al version of Back Dat Ass Up. "Thedric, I'm ready." see the quotes, as your rule states, that means the quotes are attributed to you.

sounds kinky, and private. I don't want to know what school you went to for that.

Rich, I definatley agree and you reminded of that. But lets not forget who the Patriots QB was. Compare Tom Brady and Chad Pennington and a patriots defense with Seymour, Bruschi, Law, Harrison. We can be there in a few years but as of now we have one maybe 2 pieces of the defensive puzzle in Ellis and Vilma. Needless to say though have a great running back always helped a team more then it hurt.

For what it's worth, you don't need "quotes" to imply a quotation. If you use a colon or a dash, you are implying a quote....especially when you follow it with a statement like: I'm Ready. If you did not indend to imply a quote you should have written it in the third person......"Cedric Houston is ready". Unless you have a PHD in English, I would caution you against impuning the education of other posters.....especially when you are wrong.

I'm with you. I really liked what I saw of Houston and Askew last year, that was the final straw on Herm. I understood Martin was hurt but when those 2 guys came in and ran well against that same tattered line I knew we had keepers. The running game is 75% about who is blocking, there are so many examples of teams with a great running game that lack a superstar RB. How about Carolina? Are DeShaun Foster and Stephen Davis or even Nic Goings star players? Or Denver with the carosouel they have there. On the other hand you have the Vikings who take a RB every single draft but never get it right. Mangini is no dummy, if he intended on going RB as a priority Martin would have been cut outright not restructered and given an oppurtunity.

I love DeAngelo as a player, but I think you are right, Cedric can carry the load. He definitely showed enough last year that I'm ready to not draft DeAngelo and let our current backs hadnle the duties.

I am still trying to find out any information on Cedric in college on the status of his hands, or catching out of the backfield ability. If anyone has any strong opinions on the matter please share. i will post some stats shortly.

He had 8 catches for 66 yards last year, 8.3 avg. Kind of foggy in memory.

At Tennessee he had 39 catches for about 370 yards, not to bad.

This is correct, but has no sexual inuendo attached to it. I am saying to Ced or whoever is reading that I am ready for him to play/start. I am not even really sure who Big Gay Al is, or how you came up with this, but it is obvoius you did not enter the thread to discuss football.

This is where we need Jabba to step in with some college scouting info.

Anyhow, as a runner, Cedric reminds me of Curtis with a little more breakaway speed. I saw some of his college film last offseason, and he showed excellent ability running between the tackles, making the first guy miss, and running over defensive backs.

Many people who are casual fans fail to realize that Cedric would have been a day 1 pick, possibly even in the second round, if it hadn't of been for his thyroid condition. A condition which has been properly diagnosed now, and for which he is receiving the appropriate meds. He should be able to be an every down back without wearing down like he did in his senior year of college. We won't know unless we try him out, and 2006 is the perfect season to do just that. With Martin and Blaylock here to take over if he cannot handle it, we should give Houston his shot.

As much as I love Lendale White, I am officially on the 'ignore RB on day 1' bandwagon. If a speedy little guy with upside falls to day 2 of the draft, I'm all for picking up a RB then.

I am implying a quotation, my own, in which case it would not need quotations since I am the source. I was an English minor in college, but will NOT pretend to be an expert, I do know that anytime you source anothers words directly they must be in quotations, there is no exception to this rule. Maybe next time i will try out the third person to make everyone happy, I did not see the thread title becoming an issue, enough about English and vernacular, I wanted to discuss the RB postions for our squad, do you have any opinions on the Cedric or the Draft?

what do you think of Taurean Henderson? Rb out of Texas Tech. He's a fast and elusive back that can make people miss. He was pretty much used as a recieving threat. He has great vision and instincts. An interesting prospect.

Yea, i forgot about this. He senior year stats are very solid, especially in a system that used two running backs and a scrambling QB, forget his name.

Dam, you guys are all a step ahead of me when it comes to college prospects, I do not know much about him, I am sure I will by the end of the draft since I watch both days intensely. You like this guy? I would check him out on the web, see what I can find.

Looks solid, his college stats are dwarder however by Ced's. I am not usually one to pay attention to statistics, since I like athletes who do the little things and play their roll, but right now its all i have to go on.

Cedric's hands were suspect at times, but he doesn't seem to fight the ball, which is good. I think he was thinking too much. I'm sure that was mostly rookie jitters; he'll settle down. He does not remind me of Curtis at all, however, he reminds me of Earl Campbell: not huge, but punishing, seeking contact, initiating contact, bouncing off contact. He just seems to be dug into the ground with three foot roots. And he always falls forward. The more I think about it, the more I like our RB situation. You know, Curtis could be one hell of a third down back.

Martin: He is not known for his "platooning" ability. Martin needs 20-25 carries a game to get on track. He always has and he will be the first person to tell you this. He comes on stronger the more carries he gets. I really don't know how CM fits in this year. He is no longer the main man, so it's a bit of a guess what his role will be in 2006.

Huston: Saw him several times last year and was more impressed as the season wore on. He looked very good in the Raiders game. He is young, strong, and very quick and is already more of a threat than CM. I do not know enough about his pass catching or blitz pick up ability.

D'Brick: The only choice at #4. A pro bowl left end makes the world go round in the NFL. He will add 25-50% to any QB's passer ratings for the year, and that will make play action that much more effective. We will draft D'Brick at #4.

QB: CP will take time to come back but will take over in mid to late September. We will bring in a FA QB to start the season. FO believes in CP which means we will draft OL early and often.

2006 Season: A little rough out of the gates, but we will pick up momentum as the season wears on. We will just make or just miss the PO's at 9-7.

2007 Season: Everyone on this forum will be blasting Mangini and the FO.
