Thanks. This is my take on what is going on until further notice. I don't know why this thread was moved, but whatever. It makes sense to me. The irony is that Tebow will get ground up by it, too. He may get out of it alive, though. That part is too early to tell. But it will not help him, either. He'd have been much better off going to Jville.

I'm going off of comments by Bart Scott, Darrelle Revis, Santonio Holmes and others. There's been a maor shift in the Jets locker room over the last month. Some of the decisions players have made are obvious.

Darrelle Revis wants a cheap good QB on the Jets with the emphasis on cheap. Mark Sanchez is expensive any way you look at it and that's less money for Revis. The comments attributed to Revis during his holdout of Sanchez needing to take a paycut (after his rookie season) made Revis stance on any other cheaper QB pretty clear. Well now he has his cheaper guy. Just time to move the guy taking his cap space up out of the picture.

If you think that it is normal for a half dozen players to start talking about how good a leader the backup QB is then you haven't been watching the same NFL that I have. The worst thing that can happen to a team is a QB controversy and the players know that. That's why they're usually mum on the backup QB.

What happened: Mark Sanchez rode the coattails of a tremendous defense and running game to some road playoff victories and thought he had ARRIVED. That was the WORST thing that could have happened to Mark Sanchez. Early success warped his perception and view of his own ability. He's like a Rex Grossman talent-wise who feel's like he's Elite and above reproach. Going on the record to say that.

But where do you get that from?

Every time I've seen Sanchez interviewed he's said that he's the one who has to play better for the Jets to get to the next step.

Your comment looks like a clueless one from somebody who signed up after Tim Tebow was acquired by the Jets. It just doesn't match the facts that we know.

Tebow was not a better passer than the Mannings or Stafford. Maybe statistiically.

If tebow was anywhere near those 3 he would've been a top 5 pick combined with his athleticism.

Urban meyers system made him look like a much better qb than he really is. We don't have to agree on that but I will never say otherwise.

Again I didn't hear you refute him being on one of the most talented college teams of alll time.

There's a reason people project different to the nfl game. And there's a reason people who've studied the transition don't think tebow ends his nfl career a qb.

What top qb talent ever got his start. And the OC thought "jesus we have no shot throwing the ball traditionally" and switched to a style of offense remniscient of the 1950s.

I've seen other tebow supporters bash broncos OC. If that wasn't the best option to win Elway wouldn't have allowed it to go on.

People also think Peton Manning availability is what sent tebow out of town.

I think we can agree John Elway knows a thing or two about being a franchise qb.

He pracitcally packed tebows bags and drove him to the airport.

I just find it funny when people feel he's not being given credit when he's called an amazing football player and not a qb.

There's a reason you don't see any legends or people aside from skip bayless pounding the table on how the league is wrong.

Just like revis overblown statements about being a good leader. That's nice, I never heard him talk about ball placement, reading defenses, or anything related to on the field.

    "The way he eats lunch."

Really? Tebow eats like a champion. Awesome, he smites lunchables with the wrath of god and never puts his elbows on the table. Always keeps a napkin on his lap.

There's a point people need to focus on everything going on, ON the field.

Like I've said and ill say it again. If anyone has the work ethic to prove me wrong, its Tim Tebow.

That being said I do not see him as a answer at qb for any team.

He's an elite athlete, a great football player, nothing less, nothing more.

But he's not a backup QB and they know this, they know he isn't any threat to taking Sanchez's job unless mark is hurt. Tim is a leader, has been for a long time on every team he has played on whether in a prominent role or a secondary role. Tebow is going to help this team much more than a typical backup QB b/c he's going to be invovled in so many aspects of the O & STs.

That's defined as rhetoric. Anyone can talk in cliches. Donovan McNabb talks about how he was always in shape and yet, he'd be gassed after a 10-yard run and had a gut. Actions speak louder than words. If teammates are calling a player out on the field (Mark) that's action on display. I can talk all day about how hard and focused I am, but my mind's on who I going out with at night, what hot girl I am gonna date, and party I'm throwing at my house. You don't know what a player actually is doing no more than I do, but in my estimation and based on Mark's play last year, I see a player that thought he had arrived and did not work to get better at flaws in his game. That is also what Cavanugh is alluding to, so I am NOT the only one voicing such comments. So don't act like what I am saying is not something that you've never heard before.

Mark Sanchez has played his best football in the postseason to the tune of the 6th best post season passer rating in NFL history. He wasn't solely responsible for those playoff wins but he was a positive contributor. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Good lord. Is it that you didn't bother to read what I actually wrote and instead, only saw what you wanted ? Or was it that you just simply didn't understand ?

Tebow WAS a better overall passer in college than either of the Mannings or Stafford. The reason he wasn't a Top 5 pick are: 1.) he wasn't "NFL accurate" (tighter windows in the NFL). 2.) Elongated throwing motion (this leads to slower delivery giving defenders time to jump routes and close on the ball). 3. ) Starts windup from down by his hips. (This would lead to propensity for strip sacks). 4.) had basically never taken snaps from under center, but worked from the shotgun exclusively. 5.) due to working from the shotgun, footwork and timing was suspect. 6.) due to the offense that he ran, there were questions about his ability to read defenses.

The thing is, why he wasn't viewed as "NFL ready" the way the Mannings and Stafford were (since they were traditional drop back passers), Tebow was, in fact, the better passer in college.

The reason I brought that point up was to counter the claim that he had never been accurate. That's completely false.

As to Florida being loaded, sure, I won't deny that they were. But look at Peyton's Vols. They had Joey Kent, Marcus Nash and Peerless Price as receivers. All three of these guys were drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Additionally, the Vols had enough talent on board that they won the National Championship the year after Peyton left. 16 of the players on the team during Peyton's senior year went on the play in the NFL.

SOME people thought that. Others thought that he would be a project and would take a couple of years, but that teams should definitely draft him.

Ummmm, Carolina did just that with Cam Newton this year. Then again, they were smart and did it right from the start.

Actually, it wasn't the "best" option for Denver to win, it was just the one that they took. If you go back and actually watch the games, Denver ran very little option overall. There were a couple of games where they had somewhat heavy doses of it, but iirc, Option plays accounted for less than 15-20% of their offense. If they were smart, they would have gone with the Spread Option as their base offense.

That and Elway's insistence that the only way to win was with a traditional pocket passer.

Some thought the same thing about Michael Jordan, he greatest NBA player in history. So, he became a FO Exec and completely sucked at it. Seems that while he was a great player, he was a terrible judge of talent. :)

Except for guys like John Gruden, Mike Ditka, Bill Parcells..... Hmmm, would they qualify as "legends" ?

Junc, you never "buy" into anything except the idea that the Jets are infallible and elite! How many times has the Jests FO sold you the Brooklyn Bridge?

Your rationalization for this move is contradicted by the very simple fact that the Jets had just signed a backup QB a week or so before they traded for Tebow. The Jets FO wanted Tebow to grab headlines from the Gnats, to sell tickets, and to cover their asses when Sanchez fails because Tebow will take most fans' minds off the fact that the Jets wasted picks and 3+ seasons on Sanchez.

I buy into reality, have you seen me predcting Super Bowls the last few years? No.

The Jets did not make this move to sell tickets(only tickets available are the tickets more valuale than that HS Stadium Buf plays in) or grab headlines. The headlines were NEGATIVE so why would they do that strictly for headlines? it makes no sense.

The week or 2 earlier that they signed the backup QB they didn't know they could get Tebow. Tebow is much more versatile than Drew Stanton so they made the move to make their team better and they did. Tim Tebow was not brought here to be a regular QB, if he improves dramatically in the coming years maybe some day he'll have a chance but he's not going to be our regular QB unless A) Sanchez gets hurt or B) we pull a Buffalo and are out of the race by October. A could happen, B isn't happening.

I thought everyone on this board would have learned he actually performed in the postseason after that one thread a couple of months ago where I believe you and others posted that chart of postseason performances.

I still can't believe people think Sanchez did nothing. It makes me wonder if they missed his 2009 postseason and all of the 2010-2011 season. Even this past year when Sanchez turned the ball over, they only won games when he played well or okay, never won in spite of him.

he has done pretty good at QB for a guy who is not a QB (oh and that urban Meyer system was real amazing without Tebow).

9-7 starting record NFL (On a dog crap team that was 6-22 when he did not start).
    1 playoff win

    Total Yards: 3835
    Passing : 2885
    Rushing: 950
    Total TDs : 32
    Interceptions: 9
    Fumbles lost: 7
    Completion percentage: 47.3%
QB rating: 78.1 (includes post season)

I mean for a guy everyone on earth except Bayless (your words) said could not be a QB, those stats are pretty good...32 TDs when not eating lunch BTW

    Exactly.

I don't think Woody Johnson puts publicity above winning but I also don't think he has a clue how to get the Jets to a Super Bowl and publicity then becomes the achievable end.

It's a shame watching the team I've loved for 40 years through thick and thin, mostly emaciated, fall into the trap of a clueless owner. Woody's had just enough success that he won't make the changes necessary to actually get the Jets to a Super Bowl, which would start with putting a strong football guy in at the GM spot and end with Woody taking a big step back and letting the guy run the team for him.

The Rooneys and Bob Kraft are exceptional. Most people can't run a football organization at the level they do and Woody Johnson clearly can't. The right move at that point is to go find somebody who can do the job and get out of their way. Woody's not Dan Snyder bad but he's hurting the team's chances anyway.

Bob Kraft exceptional? Yeah, he's hired two great football guys in a row and then gotten the hell out of their way.
