it's strange how quiet 85 has been. last year you couldn't shut him up (well, a least not until kick off when revis did just that!)
What is he gonna say when he's having an off year and his team is 2-8? It's too bad, because he's definitely a funny dude. Hopefully he has nothing to celebrate tomorrow night, neither.
His brother is his backup and he isn't half the QB Carson is. I hope Carson sits on the sideline in his boot.
The Bengals are in position to get blown out of the water...so of course it'll come down to a Nick Folk field goal attempt with 3 seconds left in the game. Will he make it? Stay tuned.
So after we beat the Bengals tomorrow is it true that this will be the 2nd straight year the Jets were "given" their spot in the playoffs? How lucky.
We shouldn't care who the opposing QB is? Why not? Being that QB is the single most important position in any team sport I'd say it's a pretty important thing to discuss and care about. Given that I want the Jets to win, I wish there QB was Ryan Leaf.
true. I watch the Bungals a lot because of fantasy the last couple years. Palmer absolutely sucks. HIs stats are actually way better than he really is. HIs accuracy is terrible. He looks absolutely lost sometimes on teh filed. Its amazing how much he has fallen
IF the Bungles replace Palmer, I'd bet he would come to the Jets as a backup (barring another starting offer). He's got a solid relationship with Sanchez and some press conference comments from Ryan when he started here leads me to believe he has a lot of respect for Palmer. While I'm not sure he's fallen SO low as to only be considered a backup in the league... I could definitely see him wearing green.
This game still worries me. If we weren't so damn susceptible to agonizingly close games against mediocre teams, I'd predict a blowout. Unfortunately, this could definitely go down to the wire. Who the hell knows at this point?
This is about the only guarantee. It's almost like we're more comfortable when its a close game. It felt really weird when we were up 2 TDs on the Texans.
The Bengals have been close in most of there games this year despite there shitty record. Nov 21 BUF 49 @ CIN 31 Nov 14 CIN 17 @ IND 23 Nov 08 PIT 27 @ CIN 21 Oct 31 MIA 22 @ CIN 14 Oct 24 CIN 32 @ ATL 39 Oct 10 TB 24 @ CIN 21 Oct 03 CIN 20 @ CLE 23 Sep 26 CIN 20 @ CAR 7 Sep 19 BAL 10 @ CIN 15 Sep 12 CIN 24 @ NE 38 The only games they lost by more than 1 score were against NE and Buffalo. And they were killing the Bills early.
Yeah, that's why this game scares the hell out of me. All the pundits and fans are predicting a blowout for the Jets, but this is a clear trap-game for us.
We're 8-2, they're 2-8. Really? Should it matter if it's Carson Palmer, his brother, or his cousin? No. Our defense should be able to handle Carson fuckin' Palmer, no?
Sure they should be able to handle Peyton Manning and Tom Brady too. That doesn't mean I wouldn't rather face MBGreen at QB.
My theory on that concerns Lewis. I think he's in the final year of his contract. The players seemed to like him before, but I would guess they realize that he's probably gone after this season, baring a bunch of wins right now. They don't seem to have it in them, and Lewis's situation makes it even worse. Ironically if their FO stepped in and either gave Lewis an extension (which imo has an obvious downside) or perhaps got rid of him now, it would fire up the team. The uncertainty adds to their woes, which include inconsistent play from Palmer (boy I really thought he was going to be better than he has been). But their FO by all appearances look prepared to play out the string with Lewis, and look 80% likely to let him go in the Off Season. In other words the players have given up just as their FO has. That's my theory.
All of this is null and void because Carson is starting, but have you watched this guy play this season? He's like a deer in headlights half the time, and he's about an inaccurate as he's been in his whole career. The vonOelhoffen (sp) hit definitely did something to him, he's never been the same since. But this is the prototypical QB our defense should be able to rattle...and fast.
It goes beyond Carson Palmer. We've been able to (for the most part) handle every QB we've faced this year. Flacco gave us some fits in the first game but even he didn't kill us. The Jets seem to lose focus a lot and that's why we keep dropping the ball where we should be completely snuffing other teams out. We shoot ourselves in the foot with fucking retarded penalties (Turner) and then completely fall asleep at the wheel in crucial moments and allow other teams to keep breathing. Every week it seems to be something different. Until we get a total effort out of the Jets, we're going to continue seeing these nail biters that could have gone the other way.
Almost a 3rd of their points came with less than 4 minutes less because teams were up on them by 2 scores and played soft. They do have the big play ability and that has made some of these games look closer than they were.
T.O. or Ochocinco can be the Bengals QB, and the Jets will still win with :10 seconds left in the 4th. Just Kidding .
