maybe he'd start over rankins but he's also much more expensive and we couldnt' keep him and Q and he wasn't worth what the giants paid. 3 tech and 5 tech is the same thing. they do the same job, it's just where they line up. it's not a different position.
Sure giants won the trade, and having Williams on this team wouldn’t hurt. Since he has gone to giants he is playing all pro status. Imagine the d line with him and Q. But he was bit of luxury. Comes down to bad drafting and decisions on where to spend the cap. We are paying guys still that aren’t even on the team, so we could have kept him essentially. But that was 2-3 regimes ago, and each wants to make their mark. Bad decision last long time sometimes. Would I want William’s on the jets, yes. But I think we needed an edge more more!!! It’s the going rate for an all pro and best defensive player on their team. Player salaries are set by market, not part of a trade. We replaced $$ for Williams and applied it to signing Lawson. Of course Giants got an all pro player in his prime, but we got flexibility. Our return (Davis and carter) for an all pro player (top 10 DT), was pretty disappointing! and they haven't won any games anyway... they played our Jets WITH Williams and we beat them soundly. And we suck. We saved $20 mill per year and still hammered their asses. How is that a 'win' for them?
I hate to break it to you but Mack hasn't had a season as good as WIlliams 2020 season since 2018. We were misusing Leonard. The Giants recognized it and we didn't.
