    FYI

RT @MikeMcCartney7 I've spoken with too many personnel guys who would relish the Jets GM job. I'm not buying recent reports nobody wants it.

there are only 32 NFL General Manager jobs on the entire planet

and there are 3200 or more NFL assistant GMs, Pro personnel coordinators, College scouting coordinators, scouts, message board personnel "experts" with 20/20 hindsight, former NFL GMs. assistant GMs and Head Coaches,ESPN and NFLN self appointed experts and College hot shot recruiters ALL who would give one of their testicles (only the guys I guess) to land one of those 32 jobs.

Currently there are only TWO open.... somehow I think the Jets will be able to find someone really talented to fill theirs

so yes, I think it is definitely a supply and demand exercise with the demand far outrunning the supply. Frankly I am extremely surprised, amazed and pleased that the Jets have taken a deliberate, well organized and prudent approach to sorting out all the suitors and finding, hopefully the best person for this job. I have been a Jet fan since 1960 and have seen them leap into ill advised, impulsive and badly thought out coaching and GM decisions for their entire history.... from hiring Jim Kensil because Pete Rozelle told them he was a nice guy to rushing headlong into flying north to sign RichK----- because the Eagles had canned him after 7 straight losses, to the hires of Herm over the phone at the senior bowl and Mangini while he was just getting back from the Starbucks delivering the venti latte to Belichick

the list is almost endless -- Charlie Winner because he was Weeb's son in law, Lou Holtz -- who the frigg knows why-- Joe Walton -- eight years of UGGH, Dick Steinberg so he could draft Blair Thomas in the #2 spot,

    please Jets

take your time and find the right guy

    thank you

The rumored problem isn't that they can't find the 'right guy'. It is that the 'right guy' may not be interested and they may need to look for another 'right guy'.

There's obviously a lot of NFL assistant GMs, Pro personnel coordinators, College scouting coordinators, scouts, message board personnel "experts" with 20/20 hindsight, former NFL GMs. assistant GMs and Head Coaches,ESPN and NFLN self appointed experts and College hot shot recruiters ALL who would give one of their testicles (only the guys I guess) to land one of those 32 jobs.

The question has been are there are a few who may not want this particularly opportunity and have strong reason to believe they will be candidates for other jobs in the future. It's not a knock against the Jets if they don't feel it is a good fit.

I really have trouble swallowing this. If anything, going into an organization with cap issues buys you a three-year grace period to "fix" things.
