True. Now JI2004, with that being said and I apologize if you already answered this, what is the affect on the cap if LC spreads that money over a period in Guaranteed money vs an incentive laden contract?
Well incentives are an entirely different animal and can be confusing... I'm even confused what the effect of no new CBA has on them. I've heard conflicting reports, so I do not want to go there right now. As far as Coles taking money and moving it around. I've heard conflicting reports on Coles too. I heard 10M and I heard 6M. I know this. His base for 2006 is 2M. NFLPA.org reports this. His signing bonus proration is 1.4M. That's also a fact. That's 3.4M. This means there is 2.6 or 6.6M sitting somewhere. If he made that value (assuming it's a roster bonus) into a signing bonus, he'd save us 3/4 of 2.6 (1.95M) or 3/4 of 6.6M (4.95M). Of course, if he's cut in later years, he'd have more of a footprint then. However, with a player like Coles, you aren't going to be able to take much money away. That's not a knock on Coles. That's just saying he's still performing and he's not old, so you can't really expect him to take a cut.
OK- I got it now-- good call. I didn't know we take a 2.4 Million cap hit with this jerkoff. I thought they set it up so that we can let him go with little cap hit. I was wrong again!
According to the Star Ledger including the JA thing we were 30M over & so far we cut that in half to 15M with the cutting of Law/JF etc. & restructing CM.
Here is the Star Ledger site http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/114067486233420.xml&coll=1
ESPN has a list of potential cuts and their savings... Sorry if already posted somewhere. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2341755
I hope that article is accurate, but I don't know. JI2004 has been reporting different numbers, I believe.
so far, from espn's stats, we have saved 18,956,428. I don't think by the way that Abe counts against the cap yet. He hasn't signed the tender, though I could be wrong.
