I read somewhere they're down to about 11 million over. BUt another article from a different source later claimed they're at about 26 over.
They probably are not factoring in Abraham, and they ARE factoring in Martin. If Martin did a simple restructure, we'd be about 10.7 over or something like that not counting Abraham.
You are a pretty smart guy and all, but coming off like that to other posters isn't really cool. Same goes for the other guy.
Well when forum regulars treat others like dirt and criticize posts people respond mean and nasty.I for one take nothing from anyone. The cap numbers are very confusing
I was the one criticized boys, and maybe I reacted a little harshly.. Im sorry. I don't see why I am singled out.
I am not even trying to upset you. I wasn't in the argument to begin with and I was just offering some opinions. You don't have to listen to me.
testeverde was signed to the minumum, that money was already taken off before these numbers were released
no he only signed a 1 year deal, but you're right there hasn't really been any news about him, according to something i read he is a FA
He is not signed for 2006 according to NFLPA.org http://www.nflpa.org/Members/playerProfile.asp?ID=13387
I'm pretty sure you're wrong-- Ty Law's deal was really a one year deal the way they structured it. If you remember-- everything was incentive based, and it made his 2006 cap number through the roof. Everyone knew there was a 0% chance of the Jets signing his extention. They made it very cap friendly if they needed to cut him, or if he couldn't play due to his injury. His release counts for about 12 million off the cap. It will not be as hard as everyone thinks to get under. I am pretty sure that we saved about 20 million with the cuts. A few more moves and they will be ready to add one or two decent free agents, trade Abraham, and prepare for the draft.
No... I'm 100% positive it does NOT count as 12M off the cap. Read the newsday article out tomorrow. They report Ty Law's cut + Martin's restructure saves 9M. That's a 100% fact. Ty Law had a 2 phase contract. One phase for 2005, and another trigger for 4 more years. If the Jets opted to take the 4 more years, they paid 11M option bonus (like a signing bonus for the next 4 yrs of the deal). That's fact, and it's reported by all the papers. Also.. at this point, it doesn't matter. He's 2.4M of dead cash for 2006. I still have 103M on the books for the Jets including Abraham, and I KNOW for a FACT I'm missing some money.
So our current cap number is $11Mill (not including abraham)? If Penny restructures, and we release EITHER Kendall or Mawae, where will that leave us? Still sounds like we would need to make some more room. Coles deal is being reworked, but where else can they look to save $$?
Kendall should save just over 3M (3.3 I think) and Mawae 1.3. I think the 11M is right, or close to right anyway. I think Pennington, Coles, Ellis and/or Robertson restructures will do the trick with the cap to be honest. I have us 11M over, assuming the cap # is 92M, counting Abraham BUT I may not have all the information, and I am thinking I don't.
You're right, we will see and it could be tricky, but even a simple restructure on Pennington saves 4.5M. I know a simple restructure is not in our best interests, but still it's nice to see how much it'll save.
