Law's option could have been spread over 4 yrs, in terms of the cap, so only 2.75M of it would have counted in 2006.

Thanks. Is it even feasible for us to get under the cap and still having players on it?

Yeah... Martin saved money, and he wasn't counted in the 10.2. If he's restructured simply, he'd save 4.5M. Pennington will save 6-8M and Coles will save a lot. I think DROB will save a bunch too

Restructure does not mean pay cut.

No i know, but couldn't it mean pushing the bulk of his money off to a later year?

Don't forget the 49'ers. Any time you let go quality players for cap purposes, its a sign of mismanagement. Tannenbaum was involved in every one of those contracts. And it didn't start this year, they have been losing quality layers for years and Bradway and Tannenbaum failed to replace them with players of equal or even close to equal ability.

    No.

It probably means a roster bonus he has due, or his base salary, is turned into signing bonus.

He still gets his cash now, but the cap hit is spread out.

Wrong. It counts when he SIGNS the offer sheet. That's why the nervousness about Abraham signing the offer sheet immediately and boosting the Jets back over the cap.

So it virtually counts, because if he signs it, and you can't afford it, you're fined for being over the cap.. IMMEDIATELY.

    So I am right.

    Thank you.

I thought Laws $8 million roster bonus counted against the cap as well, so wouldn't that add to the cap savings?

He had an 11M option bonus coming. It wasn't a roster bonus.

At this point, it doesn't matter. The amount saved doesn't matter, the amount of dead cash (2.4M) matters. I still have 103M of cash on our cap, and I was 11M short before all this counting Abraham

You'll NEVER find an official cap #. Even with Clayton posts them on ESPN, they are not 100% official

    they are never public 100%.

I have a website with #s, but I'll be the first to tell you it's not 100% accurate... What's there is accurate.. it's more an issue of not having all the info
