If anything I thought this was going to be the season they tanked, when there's not exactly a bunch of generational players at the top of the draft. Even when we get the #1 pick we have Peyton going back to college. But they need to find out about Petty, and if he plays well and the team wins that actually helps the team's future. The worst-case scenario would be winning a bunch of 9-6 games.
Don't get me wrong I would like Petty to be successful. But I'd rather add a top 5 pick for him or whoever our QB is to build a future for this team. Drafting order does matter when you have teams potentially wanting to trade up for your spot to get ahead of another team for a certain player. Time will tell how this all plays out. Can't say we will really get much of a feel next week for Petty as he will be facing Matt Moore
He's not facing Matt Moore, he's facing the Fins' defense, which isn't great either but still an improvement over the competition today.
Not really. Byron Maxwell is a joker. You can't tell me having Matt Moore at QB is gonna pump up that Fins defense. They know their season is over..
He'll actually be facing Donkeykong, Cameron Wake and Mario Williams. Good test for the kid. Good thing he's 6-3/230 of mostly muscle. Saved him today on the cheap shot and we all know Suh is the Czar of the Cheapshot.
There's nothing to fear about Suh Wake and Williams. They are going to cut Williams as soon as the offseason starts. There is nothing to measure when playing meaningless games. You just don't have the effort
With our OLine? I dunno man. I'm just glad Petty has some size to him. It will be interesting to see what Master Chan has up his sleeve for next week..
spoken like a veteran Jet fan.. I'm with you man, I never want my team to lose. And Bryce won on the road in the NFL, showed poise, and made plays when he needed to. I joined this board when I moved to Texas to alert the fans of him while he was at Baylor. I loved it and will be rooting for him to be our guy. Always liked him. He just needs more reps. Plus Wesly Johnson looks good, Carpenter looks good, next year we sign Chance Warmack and draft the LT of the future. Robbie Anderson, Enuwa, Big D Decker.. The young guys looked good. One thing that concerned me was Darron Lee, a couple of plays it looked like he got sucked inside, and didn't play well today.
What kind of crap is this?. So Petty should not be putting his best effort forward because the team needs to move up one spot in the draft, under the meaningless presence that it would make a difference in our draft, while totally destroying the confidence of our youngsters. Tanking is for for loosers in life...wanna be one, knock yourself out. The Browns have had the number one pick for ever, like many other losers.....how is that working for them? You fucken always play to win
Horseshit, you can't have it both ways Tonya. You claim to want Petty to be successful yet you also want the Jets to lose because of draft implications. Makes sense loser.
Hey schmo, no attempt to address my posts directed at you? Just looking for supposed inconsistencies in everyone's posts. Got it. Petty can be plenty successful while we still tank games. Wanna know why? Because the offense isn't the only squad that takes the field.
They haven't given up. They lost to Miami on the last play of the game a couple weeks ago. The only trailed New England 13-10 at the start of the 4th quarter. The Cowboys scored the winning touchdown with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. They're not a good team by any means. But they're also not a team that rolls over and dies every week like we did vs. the Colts. Young players carrying the team to victory is important for a franchise. Sorry you can't see that. If we won the game with Fitz, Marshall, Revis and Harris being the ones carrying the team to victory I could see where you were coming from. But we won with our youthful core doing it. There's something to be said for that.
We have the 5th worst record atm...were we ahead of Chicago for the draft pick prior to this week? If so, we only lost 1 draft spot from this win. If Chicago was already ahead of us, then this win made no difference.
Well I've kept them crossed for so many years now, I can type pretty good that way! The only downside is that I've gotten arthritis!
That wasn't so much a cheap shot as it was utter stupidity from Petty, he had seconds - minutes it seemed - to throw the ball away. That was Fitz-level stubborness.
It looked like he was trying to draw the penalty. While it wasn't a cheap shot, it seems like that is generally called a personal foul around the league. The refs didn't seem to want to make that call given the time and situation of the game, and I get it.
Something could be said for it if it was New England, which we will get to see in a few weeks, but beating a team that had lost 11 straight is like winning a preseason game.
