The JETS will need immediate impact players in this upcoming draft on the offensive side of the ball at WR, RB, and TE. The only two WRs that the JETS need to draft are Sammy Watkins and Jordan Matthews.
The Jets need to come out of this draft with 2 WRs. Im hoping for Sammy Watkins and maybe Mike Evans or Brandon Coleman. I wouldn't mind Marqise Lee but he will likely be top 10 and I would rather have Watkins. It also depends on how Stephen Hill does. If he improves then I can live with only one new wideout. I still have some faith that he can develop to be a pretty good receiver but he has to show us something. I really don't see any really good running back prospects. I like DeAnthony Thomas but I have some doubts about him on the pro level.
A lot of good WRs in this draft. Gotta include Michael Huff, Cody Hoffman,Jordan Matthews,Jason Richardson & Allen Robinson in discussions as well. A lot of potential 1st/2nd rounders. As for Sammy Watkins..I love him as a playmaker. But he strikes me as more of a #2 WR than a #1 due to his size. He doesn't run every route like a #1 is supposed to. He's more of a Desean Jackson type. I see him more as a potential replacement for Holmes than the answer to our hole at #1 Jordan Matthews,Brandon Coleman, Marqise Lee, Cody Hoffman & Jason Richardson are the potential #1 wr types capable of running the intermediate routes jets need help at.
Did RB Wesley Tate from Vanderbilt impress anybody else? Guy was shitting all over South Carolina's top of the line defense. He has good hands and the size to run between the tackles consistently.
Watkins is bigger than Lee. Roddy White, Cruz, Nicks, Dwayne Bowe, Garcon, Reggie Wayne are all #1 WR's within an inch in either direction. DeAndre Hopkins is the same size as Watkins as well, while Watkins is more explosive. I dont really think his size is an issue at 6'1 205. Im not sure about his route running... But his hands are pretty advanced. I think he can come in a be a #1 WR, or at least a big playmaker in his 1st year.
Let's grab Watkins, then trade back up to the first round and grab either Austin Seferian-Jenkins or Mike Evans. I want a big dominating WR that can beat the shit out of a CB at the LOS when they try and jam him.
They'd better get Bridgewater. No way Manziel survives a season in the AFC North with the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals all taking shots at his knees.
I likely should have prefaced my thoughts on some opinions ive seen that suggest that Watkins is far smaller than his listed height of 6"1. He supposively looks much shorter next to Tajh Boyd who is also listed as 6"1. Please note I like the kid alot & think MM will like him too.Speed kills & he has very good hands. He could be a better prospect than Tayvon Austin was. I do rank Lee higher b/c he is more smooth in his routes,at this stage runs MORE routes & has alittle more versatility to his game.
Hopkins, Boyd and Watkins are all listed at 6'1 and they look the same height. Watkins looks bigger than Hopkins also, and Hopkins is listed at 215. I wouldnt be surprised if he comes in at the combine at 6'1 215, which is certainly big enough as a #1 WR. But I would like to see him run a wider range of routes though like you said.
As a mid-round prospect I'd love to pick up TJ Jones out of Notre Dame. Not huge and average speed, but has great hands and runs great routes. Would work great in a WC style offense. Reminds me a lot of Jeremy Kerley.
I don't know if anyone has seen Donte Moncrief out of Ole Miss, but I am definitely interested in him. Prototypical size, good game tape and is one of the biggest risers on Mel Kipers draft stock lists. He's probably going in 2nd or 3rd. Does anyone agree he could be worth atleast a third?
Dude is AJ Green without the consistent hands Round 2 is ideal if he's there My mock draft is a beauty right now
