Don't forget we should get some compensatory picks after losing DeVito, Slauson, Greene, Keller, and Landry

Question for those really up on the college game.
How does the middle of the draft seem to be shaping up for 2014, you know rounds 3-5, good depth, thin?

I'm not normally a "darksider" I'm usually realistically optimistic going in to a season and then upgrade or downgrade a little bit based on the first few games of the season.

But this year put me down as a darksider, I'm looking at the Running backs, the questionable safeties, the questionable LB corp (overall but I do have high expecations of Demario this season). DL I'm not concerned with in the slightest assuming they stay healthy and CB's should be serviceable or better. Rex usually gets the best out of a defense...but I have doubts if this unit will be a top 10 unit this year, in part because I think they're going to be on the field ALOT due to an inept offense.

MM doesn't have much to work with as his first year as OC. I have severe doubts about the running game as it's looked horrible against first unit defenses and I suspect that our current feature back benefited greatly from defenses focusing so heavily on New Orleans passing attack where as with the jets they're going to be stacking the box not fearing the passing game.

I don't think Geno's ready, but I still think he's at least equal to Sanchez, which isn't saying much if you know my position on Sanchez...but at least Geno has upside.

guys, I hate to say this but the only team on our schedule who the Jets may be better than is Oakland, and that may be debatable if they go with the rookie who's been shining at QB, albeit pre-season can be deceiving.
The roster lacks real depth at too many positions
And it's becoming clear that Rex is probably on his way out, which makes me sad...he's a poor HC I admit but a defensive genius overall.

Anyways, the reason I'm posting in this thread, and feel free to move it is I think the Jets will be drafting in the top 3, possibly top 2 draft slots in 2014. I'm downgrading my w/l to 2-4 wins this season.

So if we draft in the top 3, who do you pick? or do you trade down?

    Couple notes today
Jadeveon Clowney is gonna recieve so much damn attention he wont have the same impact stats as he did maybe last year. But he's working his ass off, he isnt lazy. D-Line we here it all the time are lazy, shit id be lazy too if if was 270 plus, can one really go 100% every single play, so yeah he probably does take plays off but they said that about JPP and Aldon Smith too.

Jordan Matthews is a beast, is isnt overly fast but has just enough speed. And at 6'3 is a big target who im rooting for like crazy. On his way to be the career leader in rec and yards in SEC history, thats saying a lot. Clowney in the 1st, Matthews in the 3rd and im good with that.

I like Matthews but I think your reaching with the 3rd round pick. as of right now I see him as a late 1st/early 2nd.

Derek Carr is an intriguing quarterback. I really think the Jets can get another 2nd or 3rd-round QB next year, whether Geno proves to be good or bad. Never hurts to have QBs in the pipeline. The class is so deep...

Matthews would be a good fit here as a possession receiver with some ability to get open. He'll probably be a 2nd-round pick. Don't see him as a #1 receiver, but he's one of those guys who should have a high floor. He'd be a great receiver for a young quarterback because he has a huge catch radius and is savvy using his frame to get open.

Except for that drop in the end, he was impressive as usual tonight.

Glad Jordan Matthews was mentioned, he was beast last night. JMO, Matthew's is a solid 1st Round prospect. There will be quite a few WRs drafted in Rd 1 next April.

We need 2 first rounders out this draft

    Linebacker and Wide Receiver

Then in the middle a tight end, safety and running back

Khalil Mack topped the list of stars from the first weekend of college football.
The guy went up against #2 ranked & made 9 tackles, 2.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks & took an INT for a TD.

    Dream Scenario

We get the #2 pick and get an RG3 like haul moving back 4-5 spots plus picking up a 2nd and future 1st rounders and grab Mack

Then in the 2nd we get Matthews and Lyerla

yes that would make for an insane offseason leading up to the draft but do we really think the football gods would allow that dream scenario to happen to the jets ?

we'll end up going 6-10 picking 10th and ending up with no elite talent or depth
