Mike Shula? The same coordinator whose offenses have never cracked the top 10 in yards once, and points just one time (in Cam Newton's MVP season)?
Yeah definitely joking. Who the hell would want a coach with a Super Bowl victory, two SB appearances, a .627 regular season winning percentage, 6-5 record in the playoffs, and not one complete losing season on his resume to date. Oh and 4 division championships in 10 years in one of the most competitive divisions in football over the past decade. That guy sucks.
I threw him in there as a bonus for you. Notice how he was last. So you basically have no response to the first two?
I don't. They're solid candidates. I don't think a billboard is the way to go under any circumstance. It's an absolute embarrassment to the franchise.
It definitely isn't a good look. However, what in the hell do we have to lose? We have fielded a respectable team 1-2 times all season. We are on the cusp of a total rebuild.
Did you even read my post before you went on this little rant of yours? It is too early to tell for me personally on the guy. He may not be the answer. However, advocating for drastic fan stunts like this thread (your thread) suggests, is lame. You would like to see him fired. More power to ya, this fan base should resist the urge to put up some dumbass billboard every two years though, it would only make this team look worse. Not better.
Definitely not a fan of billboards, if you want to see change, don't go to games and don't buy Jets memorabilia. It does not matter if they fire him, if Woody keeps the same organizational setup, he may hire the wrong guy again, if the HC and the GM don't share the same philosophy, their screwed. Bowles might be pissed because Mac gave him a scrub QB as his starter, there are so many unknowns with this situation that Bowles might be happy to get fired and hopefully move on to a different team as DC and start over again.
Yes, Woody is the key. Unless he wises up (extremely doubtful), this team is screwed. Any owner who would turn fire the GM and HC because they weren't on the same page, and then turn right around and create the same situation by making his new GM and HC equals is a moron, and morons don't usually learn, change or grow. I would think it is more likely that Bowles wanted Fitz since Mac waited so long to re-sign him, and Bowles has stuck with Fitz when he should have moved on. I think Bowles has shown a definite preference for veterans over younger players, and his other decisions, and approach (playing not to lose) seem to support that. At this point, unless Bowles is completely ignorant or living in an alternate reality, he has to know what a horrible job he has done, that he is in over his head, and that he deserves to get fired.
If the "Jets were smart," Bowles will get a fair shake and at the very least coach the Jets through the end of next season.
We'd be better off trying to get former Jets players involved and through them get some with real money involved and try to buy the team from Woody. As long as he owns the team, we have little or no hope.
BS!!! Smart and Bowles coaching through next season have nothing to do with each other. Some fans obviously just can't see the forest for the trees or they don't deal with reality.
If he is, in all likelihood, I won't be, because I know it will be yet another lost, frustrating, embarrassing season. The man is clueless. That's reality.
All due respect to everyone trying to promote stability and thinking Bowles deserves more time? Majority of Jets fans can no longer bear to watch this. Just because it's so fast after firing Rex that people are advocating making another coaching change does NOT mean it is wrong. Sometimes it is necessary. IMO it is necessary. The product has suffered so much that people do not even want to watch their favorite team play. Whenever that happens, change is necessary............
Id say no on the billboard, we need to see this through for the next 2 years. if we show no improvement next year I'm sure changes will be made. We all agreed with the hiring last year. If Fitzragic doesn't lay an egg this year I don't think we are as bad. This has the feeling of going the wrong way, but it needs another year to confirm. The GM needs to blow up the roster this winter. Cut Revis and a few others. Hopefully trade Wilkerson ( who has really turned into a POS underachieving over paid player ) . Try and retool with another draft. I think the mess Idzik left us in with the bad drafts is going to take a while to fix. Cant blame that all on Bowles, or Mac.
