So when the Jets lose Mangini is outcoached but when they beat Tenn, and NE away nobody says that he outcoached those coaches. Give me a break...can we not blame the players who can't tackle, catch a pass, block, or even cover a wr....its always Mangini's fault when the Jets lose. I'm sick of this SHIT!!!
winning out would mean beating us. we still control our own destiny. if we cant beat the phins we dont deserve the division anyway.
Yea but the point is they're thinking the same thing. We didn't exactly crush the Phins week one either. They're not a bad football team.
If we win our next three chances are we'll have clinched a playoff spot already, whether the Phins are at 10-5 or not. What was the last 11 win team to not get in?
Yep, anticipation and adjustments are apples and oranges. Planning the game plan is part of the deal though, and having accurate insight into what your opponent is going to do goes to a level beyond mapping out your own moves. But the failure to make adjustments to what you didnt anticpiate is more basic, and the ability to do that hasnt been a hallmark of this CS. I always remembered what Billy Martin said about the way he managed a game- he was always thinking ten moves ahead in the chess game whenever he made a move.
We may very well have been out coached against Denver, but a good deal of blame should go to the players for not executing as well. Poor tackling, blocking, dropped passes, off target passes, fumbles. I'm sure it's hard to do everything you want as a coach when the players aren't executing. Not anticipating that type of coverage is nothing to be alarmed at IMO. The 59 yard TD by Jones took advantage of that coverage when the blocking was good. Was that called purposely in an attempt to take advantage of that coverage? What about the fumbled reverse? The truth is that we don't know for sure what measures they were taking to adjust to that. Especially considering how poor the execution was for most of the day.
First of all you don't know yet if it cost us the #2, there is a quarter of the season left. Also, the call was sound and it was set up for a big gainer, you have to rely on one of your prime playmakers, Cotchery, to catch a flip and run with the ball. That was an execution error, not a coaching error. Everyone is a genius after the fact when it doesn't work, we've run reverses effectively all year.
Maybe. For years he has criticized us and praised the Giants even in years we were better than the Giants and we have been better than them most of the decade.
