This is why I'm moving away from graphic design, and going back to drawing, painting, and carving with chainsaws (although arthritis makes the last one pretty taxing ).... I did just buy a bunch of canvases on Michaels black friday sale.
you are asking it stupid questions it’s not a search engine like Google, but you are asking it questions like it is. The good news is, over time it will become one if you continue to ask it questions like these though.. and if you tell it that you are interested in the Texas Longhorns, the very next time it will answer your question and refer directly to the Texas Longhorns. Hell it will give you daily updates on them if you asked it to — In short: It tries to give you the answers you want, not the search the internet for information like a search engine. By presenting it with something as broad as “Texas football” it wasn’t sure what you wanted
I don't know much about the industry, only what my son tells me, but pretty much all he has been doing the last year or more is writing "code", automating entire departments. The company he was with had older management in place that wasn't fully buying in so he went to a start up and they have a steady stream of clients lining up to throw money at them.
Huh? Read it again. I put those words directly into Google - the search engine. Google prioritized AI responses, which were patently false when they addressed the topic at all. It does not allow a user to click a box in a Settings option to avoid AI responses.
Yes - definitely weird when you told me that when I Googled I was not using a search engine. Kind of weird also when I said there is no setting to avoid AI and you said I should scroll past it. Very weird that AI told me there were no NFL games yesterday.
If you searched “what channel is the Alabama game on today?” You get this result in AI mode. Seems pretty straight forward if you search correctly. It’s not going to read your mind, sorry. There is no Alabama football game scheduled for today, Monday, December 1, 2025. The team's next game is the SEC Championship on Saturday, December 6, at 4 p.m. ET against Georgia, which will be broadcast on ABC. The team's most recent game was the Iron Bowl against Auburn on November 29, which Alabama won 27-20.
They got one right this weekend. Yesterday alone they wrong about eleven games. Defend it all you like. My opinion that it is unreliable stands.
It’s not unreliable for basic information like you were seeking if you use it responsibly. But you can die on that hill. You look like a dope that doesn’t know how to use a search engine and are trying to blame technology for your inability to use it correctly.
You see you are so busy trying to make me the problem for an entire system you are blind to the fact that nothing that I put in the search engine either time was incorrect; it was an open ended statement meant to test a system. The system failed miserably - not by failing to understand what I had input but by returning erroneous information about the very brief search term; traditional algorithms had no problem understanding and correctly responding to the exact same input. And, of course, you resort to your middle school name calling every single time you barge in where you have proven time and time again you do not belong and make a fool of yourself. Why not just save yourself the embarrassment?
AI can be coached and it can also be biased. Don't take anything it says as fact until you look at the sources and such. AI is super helpful, but dumb people who don't like to do research are going to be throwing it in every one else's faces anytime it agrees. It is basically a hard core search engine. If enough articles say something, it will often promote it as fact even if it's speculation. I saw somebody trick the latest Grok into proclaiming "Christ is King." Too funny. AI has it's uses but it shouldn't be relied on too heavily as of yet.
You were never very good about filtering bullshit from what you found online - like your multibillion dollar light bulb factory story - why should anyone expect you to be more selective with AI? Tell us why you are defending a system that said there were no NFL games last Sunday.
You can bring up a hyperbolic statement I made in 2020 that I admitted I was wrong about the dollar figures but it’s just a distraction from the fact that you won’t admit you don’t know how to use a search engine.
One more time - it is not about the input to a search engine; it is about the output. It is about a search engine prioritizing erroneous AI information over traditional algorithm derived information that is correct. If your ability to comprehend what you read was half as keen as your ability to ignore facts if they suit your argument you never would have entered this conversation. Unless, of course, you believe those eleven games the NFL played on Sunday never happened like the AI system you defend reported.
