Mike Vick is clearly not the answer but to put it in Rex's speak: he gives us out best chance to win. As for Geno is he that sulking kid who dropped to round 2 we saw at the 2013 draft. So to me you have to give Mike the start. But I can't see him lasting the season. Too many hits and fumbles. So Simms may get a chance.
Of course the year where the Jets could potentially be a 2 win team there isn't that great QB prospect like Luck or Manning coming out.
It doesn't matter. If Simms puts up 30 points, our defence allows 43. We had 8 players at CB, and gave up a huge play to Watkins. That's a level of incompetence I've never seen before. 8 on 4. SMH.
At a minimum they're probably going to activate him. Just heard on ESPN NY post game that the trainers were looking at Geno after the game. I don't know how treatable suck is, so maybe they'll IR him...
I'm not opposed to starting Simms at this point. We know what we have in Vick and Geno. Now let's see what we have in Simms.
Simms isnt Brooks Bollinger 2.0. He has a strong arm and is mobile. He can make all the throws and Bollinger never could. The Jets should give him a chance, but with the way they have been playing they will just ruin him too. Fire Ryan first, then put in Simms.
You're right. Simms should get to start the next 26 games. When mentioning the sample size, you've neglected to consider that the coaching staff has seen this guy practice for two seasons.
Yes, fire Ryan, start Simms, and then we make the playoffs and win the superbowl. We will then be competitive for the next 20 years.
Right. They've seen him for three two seasons and kept him on the roster. I don't need to see Simms start for 26 games, but three would probably give you a good idea of what you have. What is the harm in starting Simms? We know what Vick and Geno are, the same can't honestly be said for Simms. I want to know if he can play or if he should be cut. Better to find out now, than later.
This is what I wrote in my initial reply: "See what you have in Simms, even if its merely the low bar of seeing if he will be good enough for the job as a No. 2 QB, or as a "caretaker" starter at QB as they wait for whoever they draft in the first round at QB to be ready. "
