Again Raiders are running the Denver zone blocking system. Remember How it didn't matter who Denver put out there at RB, as it was the oline that was working so well together. Well that applys to Raiders now. See Justin Fargas stats after Jordan was hurt. Raiders have more than enough at Rb to handle a Jordan extented absense. As this article talks about. Crowd in the backfield It's one of those problems an NFL coach loves to have, but it should be interesting to watch nonetheless. The Raiders are about to go to a stacked backfield. ADVERTISEMENT Dominic Rhodes' four-game suspension for substance violations officially ended Monday. The Raiders have a one-week roster exemption before they have to let someone go to accommodate the guy who probably should have been the Super Bowl XLI most valuable player. In the meantime, Rhodes can practice with the team and attend meetings again. His return comes at a strange time. LaMont Jordan has been sensational this season. But his lower back was so sore after the Dolphins game that he leaned on crutches in front of his locker and needed help retrieving his cell phone after he dropped it. His substitute in the game, Justin Fargas, ran for a career-best 179 yards, 172 of them in the second half. Rhodes looked like the best of the three during the exhibition season. But Jordan's resurgence and Fargas' breakout game seem to have leveled the playing field. If Jordan is healthy when the Raiders return from their bye week -- X-rays Sunday night were negative -- coach Lane Kiffin will have some tough decisions on his hands. The only thing that could cloud the picture even further would be the emergence of another candidate for carries. And Kiffin hinted Monday that it could happen. He said rookie Michael Bush has been looking great in workouts, and that he has a chance to play in 2007. Bush is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list Oct. 16. "He's the lowest he's been at his weight for over a year," Kiffin said of Bush. "He looks great and he's been buying into our program. He's been great in the weight room with our staff." Bye-bye Black and Silver There is no bad time for the bye week to arrive, an axiom proved once again as the Raiders look forward to getting guys like quarterback Josh McCown, defensive end Derrick Burgess and Jordan back healthy by the time the team plays at San Diego on Oct. 14. Kiffin is shaping up as an unabashed workaholic, but he said he and his team would not dive right into preparations for the Chargers. Rest assured, however, that he will not be mixing up mojitos and watching playoff baseball with Rob Ryan all week. "We have to figure out what went wrong in these four weeks, why are we 2-2?" Kiffin said. "Right now there is no San Diego film going on up there. It is all our cutups from the last four games -- offense, defense, special teams. What are we doing well? What are we doing that we can get better at? Also, around the league, let's take a look at the top couple teams in these certain situations and what are they doing that maybe we could be doing as well." Might as well bring back Duhe Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and defensive end Jason Taylor were the talk of the Raiders' locker room last week (yes, thanks to the press corps), Porter because he guaranteed a victory over Oakland and Taylor because he has made a career out of flying around Barry Sims like Wayne Gretzky skating past a tree. Between them, the two defenders have been to eight Pro Bowls. But, without taking anything away from the Raiders' rejuvenated offense, my overall impression after seeing the game at Dolphin Stadium was: Boy, these guys are starting to look old. And you can probably throw in linebacker Zach Thomas, who missed the game with a concussion. Kiffin going soft? As mentioned here before, the coach has a habit of turning each of Mike Williams' mistakes into FEMA's response to Hurricane Katrina. He had some solid ammunition this week; Williams began celebrating one of Fargas' runs about 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, though the halfback was far from in the clear -- and was eventually tackled at the Miami 18-yard line. Kiffin could be seen breathing fire into Williams' face on the sidelines afterward. Asked about the incident Monday, though, he described his displeasure with the celebration but didn't sound particularly disgusted. "I think Mike's used to playing with Reggie (Bush)," Kiffin quipped. "He can celebrate on those with Reggie." Game balls Offense: Fargas had a career game. Jordan looked great before getting hurt. But most of their yardage was the result of a sensational job by the offensive line. O-linemen thrive or fail as a group, and I'm not Dierdorfian enough to be able to isolate one guy, so I will honor the whole unit -- and throw FB Justin Griffith and TE Zach Miller into the mix, too. Defense: It was a stellar game for LB Thomas Howard. His interception was the obvious exploit, but he also rushed Trent Green into an interception and an incompletion, leaped high to deflect a pass and closed quickly on a big third-and-9 pass to TE David Martin. Special teams: Shane Lechler's high punts gave speedy Ted Ginn Jr. no chance for a return. Extra points Don't look now, folks, but your Oakland Raiders are leading the NFL in rushing, at 194.2 yards per game. Stunning. Turning the tables on the Raiders, Miami fans apparently threw objects at one of the Raiders' buses as it left the stadium Sunday, one of them breaking a window with a bottle. Think the Raiders can score more offensive touchdowns in 2007 than they did in 2006? Their odds are good. They had 12 all of last season; through four games this year, they already have 11. Wonder why Nnamdi Asomugha has become a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback. Monday, as most of his teammates enjoyed a day off, Asomugha was alone on the Raiders' practice field, "walking through some of the plays during the game, in his mind," as Kiffin put it.
When Joseph's right, he's right. The Raider offensive line has certainly played better than the Jets offensive line through the first quarter of the season. You guys are grouchy.
I bolded the part that is important, its like comparing a game we lost last year to one of the very few you won last year....its pointless to compare until the season is complete, therefore your gloating is not only uncalled for, its idiotic.
Yeah, I remember how everyone waited until the end of last season to gloat about the Raiders' poor performance. Please tell me more about the proper protocol for sharing one's opinion in a freaking football forum, not to mention a trashtalking forum.
Who cares if this is the TT forum, Im calling your trashtalking premature and idiotic...you got a problem with that? Go fuck yourself! ( there is your TT, enjoy:wink btw, when a team is 2-12, I think its in order to say that they suck compared to a team that is 8-6, without the season being complete. You have one game on us over a span of 4, get a clue!
The AFC West is one of the worst divisions in football now that Norv I can't coach my way out of a paper bag Turner is coaching the Chargers, Herm is on the fast track to dismantling the Chiefs, the Raiders started someone named McCown at one point in the season, and the Broncos have been overrated since their inception into the league. Travis Henry is the best player on the offense. So even if you accidentally find yourself at the top of the division at some meaningful point in the season, don't be surprised when someone who represents a real division gives you the schalacking that you're headed for.
Just win baby. If the Raiders do win the AFc West, will it matter to them that AFc West might be down this year. NO just like Jets didn't mind building last year sucessful record against alot of bad teams(very soft schedule)
Yea and the Browns, like the Raiders have a better record than jets. Lets see what happens when you play those Browns. Remember alot of Jet fan were counting that bills game as a Win already. Didn't turnout like you expected.
That's the spirit! Actually, saying the Raider O line has outplayed the Jet offensive line to this point isn't trash talk; it's a fact. If the Jets turn it around and end the season with better offensive line play than the Raiders, my post is here for you to ressurect and dissect. Enjoy. By the way, I'll be at the Jet-Giant game this weekend taking notes!
And if it weren't for the Patriots the AFC East would be weaker with the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills at a combined 2-10. Besides, I thought we were talking about the Raiders' and Jets' offensive lines? fftopic:
WHOAH!!! TGG is, if nothing else, an accurate repository for Raiderjeaux roobish. Let's jump in the WayBack Machine for a moment and look at just what Jeaux said and how he said it. His claim - among many - was that THIS, finally, was the year that the Raider offensive line was going to jell into a dominant unit. The coaching. This year it was the coaching that would do it. Of course! The coaching! Must be. Now, this was EXACTLY the same thing that Jeaux said last year with Arthur and Jackie molding these young men. And, the year before, when they were all fresh, young players - same thing. THIS was the year that the Raider offensive line would break out. So, when the TGG gatekeepers called him on his REPEATED predictions (and misses) for offensive line greatness, Jeaux fell back on the "We'll at least be better than the Jets" mantra. Saying he got one right and deserving of apologies is a bizarre contortion of all the good work people have done around here. And, even if we afford him the luxury of a five-minute gloat - undeserved - we still need to crack into the files on the "exciting, young defense," which was the REAL source of Raider exuberance this season. Couldn't wait for the season to finally see this promising defense at work. Warren had slimmed-down and was reinvigorated. All the young talent was finally ready for Primetime. Pay no attention to the inside statistics of last year. This defense was headed for greatness. A nickname would soon be born. Bah! They're sniffing the hinies of the entire league, and snuggling up to the Jets at the bottom of the list. There will be no muddling of the Raiderjeaux record on MY watch!
Again Let the record show that when its all said and done, Raiders defense by season end will be as good , as I was predicting. Just watch. Jumping the gun there, alittle Sundayjoke.(four games) This isn't the New york Jets defense were talking about. So many players playing out of position, so this supposed Genius (Mangini) can play his beloved 3-4. You wonder why there is talk of revolt. When this prediction turns out to be correct, your still going to try and not give me my due. Will you be man enough to admit you were wrong. BTW- My predictions I have been willing to put my money on it. Like i have a BEt with a poster on here, that raiders offense would score more Tds than the Jets offense. Try to spin that one, as nobody off of last year would be willing to make that bet. I Did because Im extremely confidentin MY coach and my team.
1) You're right, Joe makes the same predictions every year. He also takes a ton of crap for it (and who cares it's all in fun). Now you can't even man up and admit that one of his predictions appears to be true so far this year? You're a bigger man than that, Jack. 2) About the Raider D, first of all when they were ranked third in yardage last year a lot of people on this board said "yardage doesn't mean anything". So why are they "sniffing hinies" (by the way, I think it's "hineys") at 27 if yardage isn't that important? They haven't played great and there's a lot of room for improvement, that's for sure. But at the same time they're first in the AFC in interceptions with 8. Takeaways are game changing plays. An INT return gave them the lead in Denver. Multiple picks in the Cleveland and Miami games lead to short fields and scoring dirves. Their D, even giving up yards, has made positive game changing plays to contribute to wins. In that regard it's a joke to even compare them to Mangini's "11 Sleepy Men" and their paltry 3 takeaways. By the way, I'd say the young talent is ready for primetime: http://www.raiders.com/Common/Article.aspx?id=32990
Lets clear this ridiculous thread up huh? The Jets are more shit overall than the Raiders this year , which makes a change. No doubt normal service will be resumed next season where you'll be picking up some sapp for the #1 overall pick again.
