He's a lot worse than amendola--it was stupid to get rid of amendola for this guy--terrible managment

    It's not that simple.

What you need to do is hire a combination Fakir/Shrink to get in the prospects head really good and see if he can handle the pressure of kicking in an NFL game. Either that or a hypnotist to convince him he is kicking in an empty stadium with nobody else on the field.

The mechanics of kicking a FG are probably the easiest job to perform on a football field. There are 100's of guys out there at any given time than can reliably kick a ball through the uprights 49 yards down the field. It's all the rest of the crap that goes along with the attempt that is hard.

Pat Leahy must have been one of the coolest guys on earth to do what he did for as long as he did in the context of how bad the Jets often were when he was doing it.

Ok.. I give up.. There's next to NO talent on our defense. Especially in the coaches' booth.

Neither, they went for two to try to go up six (and not have to see the kicker again)

I posted in the game thread but guys like Dustin Hopkins, Badgley, etc. end up on 2-3 teams a year and kick XP’s with no issue. Why can’t we add a fucking guy like that? We keep going with these 17 year olds who have never kicked on a NFL game.

Having no kicker today really threw us off with our game plan. Especially as we couldn't stop the defense

Amendola had some fukin leg at least... maybe work with the guy but nope. Development at any position from this franchise is a joke. #selltheteam

After we do that can we find a new:
    - coaching staff
    - offensive line
    - running back
    - wide receivers
    - tight ends
    - defensive line
    - linebackers
    - cornerbacks
    - safeties

    anyone I missed?

I thought we were too hasty in cutting Amendola. What was the point??
Did this staff think he was the difference between us and the Super Bowl this year?
I would have lived with him for the rest of the year and hoped for improvement … and brought in some competition next camp.

He was 31st in the league in FG%. Rookie or not, they had to make a change. It’s just typical of the Jets to bring in a guy who can’t even make an extra point.

You don't "develop" a kicker. Eventually, a bad kicker is going to cost you a game in a big spot, and there's no question Ammendola was headed that route. The Jets haven't had a good kicker in years, but they also haven't had a kicker lose them a game in a big spot in years - there have been no big spots.

That said, this guy was a terrible choice. He was 69-96 in FG attempts in college. What made the Jets even invite him to try out, much less sign him? Just stupid.

Time to cut Mann too. Moorestead was far and away better. It should be irrelevant that we wasted a draft pick on Mann. You can kick the leather off the ball or you can’t. Mann can’t. Let’s go find a good one on the wire.

Some day there will be this superhuman athletic freak that can bend our minds by being able to kick field goals, punt and kick the ball off... all wrapped in that same person!

But I'd settle for Mike Nugent at this point.

His name is Matt Araiza from San Diego State. He’s been known to force straight men to sleep with him. He’s a shitty field goal kicker, a Godly punter, and a human sexpot. What else you want? 2/3 ain’t bad.
