David Nelson sucks. Decker is hurt 50% of the time so far and Kerley is Kerley. Great for slot and 3rd down conversions, but not a true playmaker. Salas the past two games as shown breakaway speed and has caught almost all the balls thrown in his direction. He almost brought the Jets back against Chicago and he looks like he's got a chip on his shoulder after beating out Hill for a roster spot. Screw these "2 TE sets" idea, Cumberland sucks too (Amaro showing good promise though).
With Nelson out you'll get your wish. Decker/Salas/Kerley and Amaro is probably our best bet for production and will probably result in the best Geno. Couple more big plays Salas will be earning Geno's trust like Decker and Kerley have.
Couldn't agree more. Nelson has regressed inexplicably while Salas has shown a surprising YAC ability... Even dating back to last year. I would like to see us use him on some WR bubbles or screens. His route running is nice too. What I don't get is why it takes an injury to Nelson for him to earn playing time.
While Salas has done a nice job. I don't think "getting Greg Salas the ball" should be a top priority for the Jets right now. Feed the ball (passing wise) to Decker and Amaro with Kerley and CJ mixed in there. Salas can pickup the scraps.
From Chrebet to Cotchery to Kerley the Jets have gotten outstanding production from the slot position. Only costing a 4th, 5th and signing an un-drafted FA...
He's stepping up and actually playing well. They should utilize him on end arounds, wide receiver screens etc. He has blazing speed.
Salsa ran a 4.53 at the combine so I wouldn't call that blazing. Hakim on the other hand ran a 4.2 something. Now that's blazing!
He didn't have crazy speed, he's very quick and has good hands and situational awareness. You could probably do yourself a favor by actually finding out where he came from.
I usually don't pay too much attention to practice squad caliber players lol. His two big plays opened my eyes a little.
