Exactly. I don't even think that point can be debated from the opposite side. The only reason I'd want Schottenheimer to stick around is so that Clemens doesn't have to learn a new offense next season. However, even a casual watching, or TiVo breakdown of the games (as many of us fans do) will tell you that this offense is way, way, way too predictable.

For example: You tell me what's coming.

Jets line up on offense. 1st and 10.

    QB under center.

Jones the lone back, 8 or 9 yards deep.

TE, and slot WR right; SE and slot WR left.

Right hand slot WR (usually McCareins or Smith) motions toward the middle of the formation, shuffles, and breaks down either in an offset FB position, or directly behind left guard.

We all know (and the defenses should know as well) that this is going to be a deep handoff desinged to be run behind the LG.

Although the formation may vary here and there, and the player who goes in motion may vary a bit, we run what is essentially that exact play a minimum of 4 or 5 times a game, and, barring a great play by the back, it rarely works.

I sure hope Schottenheimer learns from his mistakes this year, or next season is not going to be any less painful to watch.
