This would be great news for CP. He thrives with the accuracy and anticipation that the WCO provides. He is familiar with it and would pick it up quick. If you give CP a good OC, the WCO and an OL he can be a very good QB.
If Mangini starts Clemens, we are a 6 team win at best. I dont think Mangini can afford a 6 win season. He needs to win now. Chad will get another year, get us to the playoffs, and Mangini will get a contract extension. At that point, maybe he decides to go with Clemens because he will have earned the right to another bad season. But at this point, it is obvious that Clemens is not ready and Mangini cant afford to let him develop on the job this year.
I disagree, I think Chad's days here are over and its time to find out what Clemens can do with a decent offensive line. We don't know what Clemens can do because he never had any time to throw the ball or a consistent run game, that is what Callahan is coming in to do.
You have to have a run game for Playaction to work, you have to have a deep threat to let the run game work, and you have to have an OL to allow a deep threat. As far as a weak arm, even if we did do play action, How is Pennington going to get the ball down field? How do you throw a slant with 8 in the box?
Wow!!! KC was behind center for what 3 wins. Should have been 5-2. No pretty, but true. We had no OL. We had an ineffective run game(even though I think that Jones had a good year considering) His best receiver was sidelined for most of his starts. Pennington can't throw a 10 yard out with zip still.
Fuck the out. He can't even throw a 10 yard in with zip. The slant is constantly jumped so we never get to throw it and when we do it is risky, despite generally being one of the safest throws you can make. The only balls with any zip that he throw this year were the ones in the Patriots game where he (Pennington) prematurely scrambled out of the pocket to get a running start to his throws. Most QBs step up to throw hard. Pennington needs to run. Slowly. Running ever so slowly. Look, I love Chad: I'm someone who throws with great velocity and accuracy despite a rotator cuff tear. The problem? After five throws I'm doubled over in pain. I want the guy to succeed twice as much as the next guy but to me, Pennington is our backup and he is the best backup in the league. He is our QB version of Michael Turner. He could start for teams in this league but we are blessed with the best backup in the league.
ummmmmm isn't that what I was saying. Based on your evaluation of CP, how can he be a starter somewhere. Your saying he can't even throw a slant. I hate to say it, as I am a CP fan, but Cp is done.
I dont think he is done, I just think for the love of all that is holy, he better be done here. On topic: Screw the WCO. Let it die. Hopefully Callahan will turn our O-Line into a top 15 offensive line. My fingers are permenatly crossed for this. Not even kidding.
He can't throw a slant because he doesn't have a supporting cast. If you have a running game, you have the ability to throw deep. Once you have the ability to throw deep, you make the defense "play honest" (force them to play their coverage and not jump routes), which allows you to make intermediate and short throws with ease. We don't have a running game or a speed receiver for the deep ball to go to, even if we did (Unless Coles is miraculously healthy again). Pennington doesn't throw with zip or power, which means he needs a supporting cast to be successful. With a supporting cast, he is infinitely better than someone with poor decision making skills who has an arm. Chad can still throw the deep ball well (anyone with skill can), hell he throws it more accurately than most quarterbacks. He can't play alone, basically. For all the talk of Clemens having happy feet, anyone who saw Chad's later games can see that he did as well: The only problem being that Chad has zero mobility.
I still don't understand....Who's the friggin' offensive boss ? How is an Assistant HEAD coach/offense subordinate to an offensive coordinator ? Will this just end up as another clusterf-ck ?
Callahan, Harry (Dirty Harry)....lol. Hell...Who really knows if he's a good coach or not ? What we all do know is that he had a huge OL in Oakland & I like that idea. I hope he gets some big offensive linemen for the Jets'. We will see in a few weeks/months what kind of OL players the Jets' acquire. In Oakland, they had big beef. Big Guards & Tackles. Ball control & a strong defense can win alot of games. Clemens has alot of good tools.
Exactly, its not worth talking to these Chad lovers. They dont know football, or they just can't see it clearly.
What about the other Brian? Brian Daboll? When the Jets got him last year, the talk was that HE would be replacing Schotty this year when Schott left for his own head coaching gig.
Sorry for ruining the board with our idiocy and our inability to understand the game of football. Clearly, we are not intellectually capable. I bow down to your ridiculous level of football knowledge. Clearly, KC is the next Peyton Manning since they both stunk their first year. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with us. We should immediately give him the starting job too because he can throw 10 yard out patterns. Nevermind the fact that he makes Vince Young look like the most accurate passer in the league. Jeez, I haven't seen this level of pretentiousness in ages. Thank goodness this type of arrogance and short-sightedness aren't in the FO.
