He has to win games and then people will give him the credit he will deserve, you don't get trophies and awards for great offseasons, unfortunately. A promising start is just that, promising.
You would think the same would be said for Joe Douglas. You can't have it both ways. Douglas is getting praised on here like the second coming of Jesus but yet people say, Gase will only get credit if he wins games. A head coach plays a massive role in attracting players, but yet it's wrong to praise him throughout the process? I LOVE the Douglas hire. I think he and Gase are going to turn this franchise around. But Gase deserves A LOT of credit for that happy feeling we are feeling right now for the upcoming season. Obviously it needs to translate to wins but you can't just simply disregard him until those wins actually occur
And for the record, a player like Kalil comes out of retirement for a number of reasons. As he stated in his interview, he missed the game, felt like he still had football left, liked what he saw in Darnold, etc. But at the end of the day, he is not going to come back from retirement to play for a head coach that he feels can't win games. Gase played a role in this signing. Whether it was directly or not, his presence played a role. Kalil will have to answer to Gase every day in practice and in games.
You have to think Kalil saw the chance at blocking for a back like Bell and it helped guide his decision also. Not many people get to help block for a running back like that. Pretty cool
You're right and when you find a post in here from me praising Douglas like the second coming of Jesus then that point will become valid As it stands my comment which was to the comment that Gase gets no praise for turning things around is still very fair, he wins games and he will soon get the praise people are desiring for him.
My understanding is the whole package was right for Ryan. QB he followed, admired on and off the field, offensive HC that Sam is excited about and a GM who is a first class character guy who is respected throughout the league. Everything I know about Ryan is that he has to feel he can perform at a high level to take this step. I compare Ryan’s character and integrity comparable to Troy Polamalu....I could give no higher praise.
More as a reference for my comment. "You" was more of a general word rather than pointing it directly at your posts. My apologies if it came off that way
Backtracking? No, more like pointing out that I wasn't in fact stating he was the one making the comments, but clarifying it was a general statement using his quote.
Oh lol I don't have a "post #184" There's a bunch of posters on here that I have blocked from years on here, so that's likely what that is haha
Only if page 1 of this thread is from "years ago". https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/c-ryan-kalil-unretires-to-join-the-jets.92586/#post-3837608 Some people just can't get out of their own way.
Pretty sure this is what earned me the ignore list this time around. Embarrassment seems to be a trigger.
