I was gonna post my own thread, but I'll state it here: This win really really hurts. Aside from the fact that this win was totally meaningless, it just crushes my hope this season for Mariota. He was the one thing that had me excited for next year and we blew it. I am so tired of this team's incompetence since 2010. We haven't put together a functioning NFL offense on the field since then either. I was so excited to have one thing to hope for during the off season that would make the wait till next year bearable. That dream has been crushed tonight folks. This fucking team has to disappoint every single time and like a bad habit, we just come back for more. For those who say fans can't root for their team to lose, how can sit there and feel good about this win? We've sat through the most brutal excuse for a team all year. The Jets took the excitement out of football for all of us since week 8. That's pretty sad to be out of the playoffs by then. Now what the hell is there to look forward to? Where do we get our QB? I have never felt so down and out about a franchise like this, but we can't seem to ever get it right.
It would have been better draft wise to loose today. I'd rather trade down from the 6th pick and start building the O line. There is nothing that says these guys are cant miss pros. I do not want Winston, he is Geno 2.0. Im done with this type of QB. Take a chance on a vet qb, and pick someone in the lower rounds.
Today's win means the Jets will not have a future QB on the roster next year. Well done. And thanks to the Titans for handing the Jets the win with stupid penalties on the last scoring drive.
I'm with ya man. The draft is not sure thing to tank for a player "that might be good". We might draft a pro Bowl OT or WR with our first Rd pick
Fucking boggles the mind, Mariota is a great player in his own right but as far as fundamentals on college tape Teddy was light years ahead.
poor jets fans, your team won… you guys are really sad sacks a shit, y'know that? I don't get putting all your hopes and dreams into one man anyway, MM and Famous would be nice to have, I'd draft e'm but its not like they're guaranteed to save the team or anything. theres no absolute assurance that either will be a franchise QB, and honestly we have other needs so losing a few spots in the draft isn't that big a deal. hell, they might fall to us anyway,(especially Famous) its a long time till may, anything can happen.
He is the one "almost" everyone wanted to tank for and this thread is about. Winston will be gone too if we stay at #6.
Or maybe ill be graduating grad school next semester with a full scholarship and stuck evaluating your sad mental disorder. Then when im done I can dab to my hearts content
Well, there was only one option and realistically, I don't think we had a shot at getting a better pick than Tampa.
Oh yeah, hopefully no repeats there..... I get it that we need a QB but there is no guarantee that Marriota won't set this franchise back, for starters he plays in a gimmick system. Does he possess traits of being a great QB? Yes in college but his accuracy isn't as good as some of the other college QB's we've seen in recent memory and most QB's who use their legs as weapons often end up injured. I could be wrong and maybe he turns out to be a great NFL QB but I don't look at him and say he has to be the #1 overall pick. If I'm Tampa I'm thinking long and hard about Cooper who I think is more a can't miss than Marriota. We also have both the Cheatriots and Phish left so there is no guarantee we end up 6th either. I do think the issue is that Oakland absolutely will take Cooper if they pick ahead of us.
I agree. You make a compelling argument. Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Teddy Bridgewater, and Drew Brees were all picked in the top 5 of their drafts. Oh, wait. Maybe not.
