not really, that 15.5 million figure was his base salary after the signing bonus was removed, I don't think anything else would be eaten by chicago in a trade.
The Jets 3rd down coverage is the worst in the NFL. I know the corners are crappy, so why continually leave them exposed when you have pass rushers like Coples and Richardson. It's fucking mind-boggling. And if you don't think these exotic defenses can't stunt a rookie's growth, well, we'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I love[d] Rex Ryan, but my God he's had a terrible year calling the defense. And it's been self-inflicted wounds. The only blitz that has worked most of the time is when he's got everyone standing up pre-snap. Those other blitzes have given away more 3rd-down completions than they would have likely given up if they had just played coverage. There's virtually NO NEED to blitz on 3rd and long when you have the DL and Coples and Babin/Pace. That's five rushing and 6 playing a zone. It's fucking football 101. Instead, this idiot brings the house with the slow @ss dreck we have on the second level (Harris especially)...C'mon Man!!!
If the Bears are not willing to trade Cutler, then so be it. As I said the notion was based on the logic of the situation and reports out of the Bears' FO. But it all depends on Chicago's view of the situation.
It is not unheard of for teams to unload unwanted players by offering to pay for a portion of their contracts. Cutler is worth some good money based on his current performance, but it does not surprise me many in Chicago think $15.5 mil in base salary is too much money. Anyway, I totally agree this is all speculation unless and until Chicago shops him around or listens to offers.
Foles, Cutler, Kaepernick all will be available. None impress me, but having a middle of the pack QB would be an improvement. I need to see who the coach is first though.......Cutlers last on my list for them though.
Not too long ago we had the same shit going on....lose all our games and get a shot at McFadden, who went to the Raiders. We played the Raiders late and everyone was pissed when they went to their BU QB in an effort to lose the game, which they did, and got McFadden who has never done much of anything. One thing is sure: The draft is a crap shoot. The other sure thing is winning feel way better than losing.
That last win did not feel better than losing. It isn't like we had a good showing - we just shot ourselves in one foot whereas Ten shot themselves in both feet. The draft is a crapshoot but it seems as if we have eliminated ourselves from the opportunity shoot for a top QB for what was essentially a meaningless win. It isn't like we beat NE or the Phins which would have felt rewarding at least.
I dont think Foles is the answer. Besides a stretch of games last year he hasnt been that good. I havent watched him a lot to be totally sure but I know Philly fans havent been that happy with him. They were hyping up Mark by the end of the pre season. I'd take a chance on Cutler but only if he restructured and we brought in an offensive minded HC. His ball would cut thru the wind here, he's extremely talented. He just consistency issues. One of these years he's going to put it all together and go on a run.
The only thing we've eliminated is the opportunity to draft a top 5 bust. And in the mean time we stomped the Titans into their grave and are working hard to knock NE out of home field advantage. Go Jets!!!
It is what it is, we can't really get any worse. This team is going to be blown up anyway. New CS hopefully GM. Quite honestly I'm hoping we can grab a blue chip OL, not that I know enough college football to know if one is worth taking that high? Let's just look forward to putting this year behind us and moving forward from this mess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man Cutler is actually worse than Geno as crazy as that sounds I'm convinced...guy stinks...with that WR corps he still blows
So raise your hand if you still think it's a good idea to trade anything whatsoever for Jay Cutler. Wasn't a good idea before tonight, it's an even worse idea after tonight.
He's better than Geno, but you're right. He's statistically the most average (read: mediocre) quarterback you can get. Yet he would improve our team... he doesn't look good at the moment but it all depends on the coach, as proven by Chip Kelly.
The issue is this year both QB's have some serious question marks so I'm not so sure I'd feel comfortable about the Jets taking either one based on those question marks. With Mariota you have the how will his game coming from a gimmick offense work in the NFL? Sure he is athletic, accurate but how much of his productions is Oregon and not Mariota? Dennis Dixon was also pretty good in that offense, granted not nearly as good as Mariota but I don't even think he's in the league. Winston you have the character issues, he has talent but I don't know if I'd trust him in New York with millions of dollars. He doesn't strike me as a very smart guy but he is a good football player. He is a winner and I like his instincts on the field but when there is a chance your QB could go Art Schlichter on you.
To be honest, I think Winston would be fine in New York. Look how much the media has tried to get on Winston at FSU (granted, he's brought it on himself), but Winston just keeps coming back and producing wins and what not. One thing Winston has, is that his mental strength is high.
