all the more reason to go cowboy style with the OL in the draft. really have no F idea why teams don't do this more often. Every OL position should be filled with R1-R3 talent. OT's usually in R1 and center/guards in R2/R3. any team can't afford projects along the line. If u uncover a gem in FA or the later rounds so be it, consider yourself blessed.
i think little would be a good selection, but not in the top 5.........really want the jets to blow these last 2 games to ensure a top 3 selection. do think a couple of Qb's will declare themselves for a high pick and teams will have to trade up. thinking the jets can get their annual defensive pick AND an OL pick both in round 1 if they can work a trade.
I think Little is by far the best LT in this draft, but he's certainly not worth a top 5 pick. At the same time, if the Jets want Little or Williams, they can't trade down too far--I expect they'll both be gone by 20, and could easily both be gone by 15. C prospects, on the other hand, are pretty decent in this draft. Risner, Biadasz, Burkett, McCoy, McGovern, and Jenkins are all, in my opinion, viable upgrades over what the current roster offers. I doubt any of them go in the 1st round, so there's a good chance at least one or two of them are available at the top of the 3rd. Of course, if they pick up an earlier pick as part of a trade-down in the 1st, the Jets can get their pick of the litter.
Faneca was good but he was all about the money when he came here. He didn’t even go on any team visits. He told his agent just sign with the team that offers the most money.
Im gonna take a lpok at those Center prospects. Thanks for the great info man! I think OT is being underrated in this class. After Little & Williams there are Cajuste,Risner,Wenoghu,Taylor(Have yet to see),The 2 Oklahoma kids,2 Wisconsin kids & possibly even Adams if he declares regardless of injury. This is a pretty good class & i have zero doubt some of these guys will move into unquestioned 1st round territory.Im high on Cajuste & Wenoghu(on day 3) w many others to still watch.
I was pulling my hair out watching long at C. It's a zone scheme sure, but too many times was he just standing in space, not engaging, while the closest defender to him was flying to the qb. Not even an ounce of awareness at center
By now I hope Mac has learned his lessons. Yes, it will take time to develop OLs out of the draftees. Yes, there are other attractive options in the earlier rounds. BUT If you don't draft them early, [everybody else will.] And that leaves Sam without sufficient protection. Addressing the OL via FA is a losing proposition. I hope Mac goes LT/C/LG in the first 3 picks come draft time. [Unless a blue-chip outside pass rusher - some Bosa brother, I hear - drops in his laps.]
I like both Risner and McCoy at C and they both should be around in the third round ....I’m hoping EDGE is addressed in FA and the Jets get OT and C in first and third rounds ....
I don’t think we’ll have to worry about Bosa - he’ll be long gone . I agree with your thinking come the draft except they won’t be drafting OL with all first 3 picks. OT and C should be within the first 3 or maybe they get a center at the top of the fourth - but too many holes on the roster overall to drop three picks in OL . However I can see them signing a G in FA....I also wouldn’t mind if they hang onto Long to play G even if he is the 6th OL. I am expecting three new starters on the OL ( including possibly Long at guard ) come next season .... I’m not even sure if Winters comes back at this point .
I'm still not sold he can snap well. The finger may have exacerbated the snapping issue, but he had issues all season long. I recall redskins fans reporting he had some issues with snaps too.
