I was impressed with Busters performance last night vs the Colts. It's early days, but he doesn't look like the poor man when compared to REVIS and Cro. Hopefully he will only get better!
Cro was always susceptible to double moves it's even worse now that he's lost a step. Cro is averaging a touchdown a game for the other team this year.
I like Marcus Williams to take Cro's spot. Skrine is awesome in the nickel i'd leave him there. I just think it would be more beneficial and i'd hate to see us use another high draft pick on a corner or even pay another big free agent
Cro has always looked bad when he gets beat. It's just his play style. The question is whether or not this is the year he steps down some due to declining physical talents. He's going to be out of the NFL in a hurry when that happens because he'll just look bad all the time then.
Nevermind the fact Rex was not the GM. Somehow his talent evaluation skills was terrible as he's the blame for the bums while convenient amnesia kicks in for some of the quality DBs that were also brought in during his tenure (i.e., Cro, Lowery, Marcus Williams, Allen...etc). I guess I just have to expect to see a lot of these types posts going forward as that's what we do as Jets fans. Let's hope Bowles can accomplish the same or more than what Rex was able to when he had talent.
RJ, - you beat me to this post. When the JETS were pursuing Skrine, - I believed then (and now) that it was entirely specific with Edelman in mind for a matchup. Revis matches up well vs the Dez Bryants, Demaryius Thomas & Calvin Johnsons of the world. Hard to believe, but I think Revis would have a tough time vs the quick twitch shifty route running of Edelman. 90% of Edelman's success is all built on timing with Brady. I'm hopeful that Skrine disrupts all that. Plus, Edelman is quite strong & Kacy Rodgers said that pound for pound, Skrine is the strongest player on the team. So I expect to see either Revis or even Cro on Gronkowski when we play the Patsies.
Gronk and Chandler, with Edelman create some very unique challenges for a defense. Scott Chandler is very underrated and is a poor mans Gronk. This is where we will really miss AA. But at least now I think we have and equalizer for Edelman. Besides the Pats, I like our chances in the division and how we match up. Jarvis Landry is going to be special but Jennings and Matthews don't make me shake in my shoes. Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin are decent receivers but don't have a QB to get them the ball. It's has and always will come down to the Pats until #12 hangs them up.
With the depth in the DB's I'm actually pretty excited to see if the glass man can truly get healthy and help us in November and December...the kid has talent that's for sure, it would be gravy if he could contribute this year
People saying he was flying around the field last night, but when exactly was that time he literally looked like he was flying when he came in on an assist in the middle of the field? He launched himself from 5 yards or something. I want to try and get a GIF of that if anyone can remember exactly when in the game it was. I'm certain it was the 2nd half... EDIT: Found it. 10 minutes left in the 3rd.
He's been great for us so far. I questioned the money they gave him originally but Mccagnan and Bowles knew what they were doing. He's a great fit in Bowles system.
Totally agree. When it goes bad though, it's going to be infuriating. Thankfully this team has planned for him as the nickel guy, and aren't relying on him to be a top-2 CB. It's the perfect role for the hyper aggressive, volatile, heat-seeking, physical type that he is.
