The Texans aren't trading away Bush for anything. It would take a team's whole draft to let him slip away from them. If he did somehow fall to #4 though, I would trade the pick away a couple of spots down, get a truckload of later round picks for him, and draft Cutler.
I'm not sure what this inside source is, because I've been telling my brother this scenario could happen for a few weeks. The Saints would trade up for Leinart if they are worried that possibly the Jets or Titans are trying to trade up to grab him. In order to prevent getting leapfrogged for the guy they want, they trade up a spot. Houston does not need Reggie Bush, they need to solidify their Offensive line, something they have failed to do since the team expanded into the league. Ferguson is the obvious choice, they just can't let anyone know.
For 1, that's a rediculous draft order and I'd like to see how you think that will play out. 2, If Bush falls to you guys at #4 I'm finding the highest building in my area and jumping off of it. Bush will not fall that far, if there's any chance of the Jets getting him they'll have to trade up.
I'm sure he's not the only one seeing this scenario...Hey, at this point anything said is all speculation...but your point that the Saints could be worried about the Jets and Titans moving up is the point my friend told me too...could he be your brother? (I don't think he is, but it's sure funny). Anyways, I don't put much into what anybody says, even if it's my close cousin Tagliabue....
Stranger things have happend in the draft, but i find it far fetched. The Texans trading down is a legit possibility as what they really need is to get there OL straightened out to give Carr, Johnson and Davis a true shot and living up to their potential. However, the team that swaps spots w/ Houston will almosgt certainly take Bush. He is that rare of a prospect.
why would the saints trade up? the texans are not going to draft Leinhart. So the Saints trade up to gain nothing and end up having to pay Leinhart more money because he would be #1 overall. Yeah that makes a lot sense.
Saints would move up a spot and give up maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder to ensure a team like the Jets or Titans wouldn't jump ahead of them to take Leinart. Odds are Houston would just fall back a spot and take Bush at 2. My bet is the Jets pick will be Ferguson or Cutler.
If Bush is available to us at the #4 pick I will be in total disbelief. I just can't see him falling that far.
This is all getting interesting as hell. It's beginning to look like we might actually be considering moving up for Leinart. Now wouldn't that be something?
Texans would be still be getting the guy they want in Bush, a spot lower and in theory would be able to pay Bush a little bit less. I don't see New Orleans trading away anything higher than a 3rd, especially with all their holes. Texans need every pick they can get, so maybe for a 3rd and 5th rounder. Also don't discount Houston being in the same division as Tenn. Houston could only command a 3rd round pick especially if they think its worth it not having to see Leinart twice a year.
Landing Leinart or even Young would be awesome. We could really build this franchise around either one.
I'd love Bush, especially if Keyshawn sat him down and told him the importance of playing with a chip on your shoulder and with loud brassy confidence in New York.
In 1998 it was "Landing Leaf or even Manning would be awesome. We could really build this franchise around either one." In 1993 it was "Landing Bledsoe or even Rick Mirer would be awesome. We could really build this franchise around either one."
