So your ignoring how many late picks make it and everything else that makes sense I've said, but did bother to take the time to say your going to ignore facts. Good job! Keep quitting when you have to use you brain or actually research some thing. That attitude will get you far in life.
I definitely thought the Jets should have gambled on Burfict late in the draft. The dude was a head case, but flashed 2-3 round talent, especially his junior year.
Instead of just picking randomly in the later rounds, we might as well be taking flyers on these players with flags all over them. Sometimes these players change once given a shot, if they don't, you were gonna cut them anyways. Its worth a shot to give these guys a chance, because you know that they have the talent. Come April if Tyrann Matheui is still up in the later rounds we should be taking a shot on him, same goes for Marcus Lattimore. These are guys with first round talent, but get set back for whatever reason.
100% agreed. Look at Dennard on the PATS. Rookie 7th rounder starting against the other team's beasts. Brilliant draft pick.
Yea, but he is starting on the 29th ranked pass defense in the NFL. Was it a great pick or desperation that has him in the lineup? We also took a guy in the 7th that seemd to have fallen last year in Antonio Allen. He has been on and off the roster, but we also have 4 safety's ahead of him this year and may need him for depth next. Punching a police officer is not exactly the thing to do while interviewing for the nfl draft. An ejection in his last game and getting arrested 5 days before the draft killed Dennards chances of getting drafted high. He was a great value in the 7th with enough red flags to cover a field, but one can hardly complain that we took safety depth when it was an area of obvious need for us.
Yep burfict looks OK now - i remember right after we took davis i was getting crazy and i posted here fuk it - lets just draft burfict in round 4 and do hard knocks. looking back now that may have been the road to take.
To be fair though Dennard didn't crack the starting lineup until recently. Their pass D has been a lot better since they picked up Talib and moved McCourty to safety. Don't know if Allen is a good comparison, I think so many teams passed on him because they were wary of his ability to cover at the next level. Obviously character needs to be factored into draft picks, but in the 6th and 7th rounds I think it's worth taking a flyer on the BPA even if there are red flags. I find it hard to believe that any scouting reports would have Ganaway ranked higher than Bryce Brown, for example... so why not take a chance on a guy like BB since the former never even made it onto the active roster anyways?
That's exactly what I'm saying. Most of the later round picks will be cut anyways, they might as well take the shot on someone who has the talent, instead of someone who showed very little at the college level. Like I said earlier, sometimes when you give these guys a shot they change they're ways and it becomes a win win for the team and the player. Its a low risk high reward.
I think he fell to UDFA and we could of gave him his shot there... We didn't even hold on to half our draft picks so that's like a wasted draft. We could of got him in camp and see if he wanted to change and work from there. They were questioning his mentality but we need some people with attitudes especially on Defense.
Part of the problem is in Rex's defense a player like Burfict would cause problems for us. Reckless abandon looks good, but when your charged with maintaining a gap and you often leave it to make a play its going to have a ton of negative consequences. Take a look at the long TD run last night. We have everyone up, no deep protection in the middle of the field. Every gap needs to be filled and they should be as we have the numbers advantage. Then pouha and Harris fill the same gap, a quick cut back off the center and an easy long TD run. A payer like Burfict would be good for his killer attitude, but if you can't trust him to do his job he is hurting more than helping.
