I'm not putting the obvious picture up but think failing at the Browns and then winning lots of SB's. Saleh was a great DC, hopefully, JD will take him to one side and tell him to get back to what made him a great DC and apply it to the HC job, it is way too early to say one way or the other if he is a bad coach, just take a look at the Jets and they expecting what exactly from a brand new coach with pretty much an all brand new coaching team. Always going to be a lot of bumps in the road.
Belichick is the outlier of all outliers there. 99% of bad coaches who get fired amount to nothing as HC of another team. I'm not sure Saleh was a great DC either to be honest. The 49ers defense wasn't good with him before they got Bosa and they've been very good this season without Saleh.
Well you have a fair few months to worry about it now then We will just have to wait and see next season.
Agree. Add Jimmy Johnson, Andy Reid, Bill Parcells with Dallas. I give up. The argument is nonsensical at many levels. Firing Saleh now, after his rookie season, with the myriad of set backs, injuries, a brand new crew across the board, never loosing the team drive and effort, with a rookie group full of holes would be right up there as one of the dumbest things in Jets history, and that says a lot. Either we give the front office due time to turn this around, or will be writing the same BS about the new coach and GM in a year. I do expect significant progress in year two, and more in year three, including a significant improvement to the roster. That is all we should strive for. This is year one on a HC and GM working hand in glove for a change. Nothing more.
It’s evident that if the Bengals can build a super bowl team by adding essential playmakers at key positions. They also let Carl Lawson go and didn’t draft Sewel over Chase!!! Figure it out JD and don’t keep on wasting picks on positions that don’t impact the game. Use our draft capital on premium positions!!!!!
So let me get this straight fuck protecting the QB. Let's I wouldn't say drafting beef to protect your, hopefully 10 yr QB is not dumb. There is no skill player high enough in this year's draft to pick at 4. Williams from Alabama would have been there at 4 but he tore his ACL. Also lets see how long Burrow can stand with that OL. He is lucky as shit he hasn't tore his other knee. Also Wilson is not in the class Burrow, Allen, We do need WR and TE and I am sure Douglas will address those needs in the draft. I like speed at WR ala Chase so I would like to take Dotson out of Penn State if he drops to the 2nd round ala Moore last year. He is a little bigger version of Moore but with the same speed 4.33 on the 40.
What I’m saying is if you look at the Bengals and the positions they prioritized in the draft they got it right. They literally went from the worst team in the league to being in the super bowl!! In the draft they loaded up at impact positions and all the “experts” said they were crazy not taking Sewel but guess what if the did take Sewel over Chase they would be in the dance 100%. OL besides LT is not a priority. Guys are marginally better especially at guard. JD the dummy even traded up 2 3rd rounders for one when we needed those picks starters. That’s not a knock at AVT he’s a decent player it just makes no sense when we needed to fill so many holes going into this past season. Premium picks need to be used on impact positions QB/WR/Edge/CB/LB/RB/LT. After that use free agency and mid to late picks on TE/IOL/DT/S/RT/FB/K/P/ST
As the Titanic sinks there are a half dozen guys on deck arguing about how best to save the ship moving forward. Another guy stands off to the side imploring them to get to a lifeboat. “The ship is sinking! Save your souls!” One of the guys turns to him briefly and tells him to get off the boat. Another tells him that sinking ships right themselves all the time and the Captain just needs to do things better in the next few hours and everything will be fine. He points out that a ship that was sinking a few years ago is sailing just fine now. A third guy shouts “this is a great ship! Just look how the deck chairs are holding their grip as the deck lists 30 degrees in the breeze! The first guy just shakes his head. “This is the Titanic boys! We’ve all been watching what has happened since we hit the iceberg 10 hours ago. Same old sinking all around us!” Then he heads for the lifeboats as the arguments continue on deck. Blub, blub, blub...
Not every team that makes the super bowl finished dead last 2 seasons ago. That’s what makes the Bengals unique because they literally went from worst to super bowl in 2 years. That situation is similar to ours unlike the Rams or KC or Tampa etc etc.
Saying build it like anyone is a fallacy. No 2 situations are the same, no 2 drafts are the same, no 2 FA periods are the same. Wilson is not Burrow. There's a good chance that there is no Chase in this draft. And no one would be saying build it like the Bengals if Burrow had blown out his ACL on one of 50 odd sacks he took or countless other pressures.
There are many ways to build a team. The Bengals took Burrow, a WR in the next round, and a WR with their first pick in the next draft. The Chiefs had their OL and weapons ready to go when Mahomes took over. The Bills added OL and competent WR's in year 2 for Allen. Then, made the move for Diggs in year 3.
