The Nathan Sheppard selection signified how clueless Mac was. It wasnt just BPA either..we had gotten cheap w retaining acouple of our own DL who signed w other teams a week leading up to that draft. It was poor planning & a panic pick. Just piling poo on top of poo Jets go out of their way to avoid drafting offense
You know how teams course correct from one coach to the other? Like Herm the preacher to no nonsense Mangenius to the boisterous Rex to the pulseless Bowles? I think the same should be done w/ our QBs. Darnold to Wilson is not enough of a course correction for me. We’re going from one West coast kid that excels off script and off platform to newer and hopefully better one. I’d much prefer we flip the script entirely.
I think those "course corrections" can sometimes be the right thing to do, but at others, are often bad, knee-jerk reactions, and the problem wasn't the style of play, it was the lack of good execution. IMO there's nothing wrong with having a strong-armed, mobile, athletic QB, who excels at throwing on the run. The problem is if that's all he does well, as in the case of Sam. Wilson is much better than that and offers much more than that. Wilson is accurate, period. Wilson has shown that he makes good decisions most of the time and doesn't turn the ball over often. Wilson has shown that he has a better arm and can fit the ball into small windows. Wilson has shown that he can read the Ds better than Sam and make quicker, better decisions. Wilson has better instincts. The two are barely comparable.
I don't know why this guy still has a job. Watch the video, no one takes Kiper seriously anymore. They are literally trying to hold back their laughter during the whole segment. He is using Aikman as a comparison and Walsh from the supplemental draft in 2021
Both he and Orlovsky are like mad dogs in this clip. Who is the guy on the far right? He's laughing his ass off at both of them.
Personally, i can't stand NFL shows more than any other sports shows (MLB/NHL/NBA). The consensus among the NFL shows is they have to yell their point at the camera like it adds something.
These guys are idiots, Montana and Young were on the sidelines together and Montana knew he was mentoring Young to take his place. At some point all players have to move on and be replaced. Jets might keep Sam through this last year and allow him to become a FA at end of year. There is nothing wrong with that either.
