I actually think the Bills are going to be a little dangerous this year. Fred Jackson is quite possibly the most underrated offensive player in the NFL over the past couple of seasons, and I think they finally found a legit head coach in Gailey. If they can make some strides on defense, their offense can move the ball and score, and they might be a factor in the AFCE. Plus the curse they brought on from benching Flutie to play Rob Johnson is probably finally over.
Speaking of underrated, I can't wait to see Kyle Williams finally playing with talent around him. He didn't play a single healthy down last season before he finally had to call it quits after playing in parts of three games. Never got to see how Pro Football Focus's top graded defensive tackle for the 2010 season could perform with an animal like Dareus next to him.
I have a habit of not always putting down my thoughts/arguments completely. You have called me out on this a few times. I put some stuff down and assume people understand the rest. My fault. But seriously, there's no way you can do you whole Brady 6th round pick comparison to what I said about Fitz. You are pointing to Brady as an example of someone who outplays their draft slot (immensely) and using it to show that you cant just go off of where they were picked. However, are you saying that Fitz is as good as Brady? Because he isn't. Fitz plays more like where he was drafted, which is why I said it was a testament to where Sanchez is as a QB.
Yeah I did the same thing when I started. I would edit my post 5-6 or times because I would forget so much. For the Brady point, I was just referring to the last point you made saying Sanchez is pathetic since we are comparing him to a 7th round pick. Fitz has outplayed his draft slot too, and Sanchez has underplayed his4. I was just pointing out how ridiculous it was to use that as a point to prove Sanchez is pathetic. We compare players all the time. James Harrison was undrafted, Arian Foster was too, and I'm sure we could go on and on. I just don't think its fair point to say comparing Sanchez to Fitz shows how bad Sanchez is. If Fitz and Sanchez were drafted in the same draft class maybe. But right now it looks like the Jets had Freeman or Sanchez and I think they made the right choice with Sanchez. The jury is still out on Sanchez. You should realize how much people dislike Schotty and think he was a big problem here. Next year is a make or break year for Sanchez. I would agree Sanchez has underperformed his draft spot, but the only great QB of 2009 is Stafford right now, who just played his first full season last year.
Try to pretend that was Sanchez's doing. Great defense and great running game gets you places no matter who the QB is. Just look at the niners. Sanchez still sucks.
Sanchez's performance in both playoff runs was good (playoff sanchez was a top 5 rated QB, its just a shame about regular season Sanchez).
Those two playoff runs ('09 and '10) were probably the best games Sanchez has played. Yes, the defense and running game carried the team, but Sanchez didn't make critical mistakes, and made some big throws. He seemed to regress a little last year (putting that kindly) but, even as a Pats fan, I have to acknowledge that Sanchez was not a liability in the post season in either of those years. Certainly not in the playoff game where the Jets upset the Patriots, anyway. He was more or less a game manager but he did make some big plays that helped the Jets win. Credit where credit is due.
In those wins, the Jets ran the ball well (157 yd/game average). It helps any QB with a rushing effort like that. He stats were nice, but I hardly pencil those games a win because of Sanchez, it was because of total team play......
That statement is accurate. It differs with a couple posters in here saying "Sanchez sucked" or the "Jets won in spite of Sanchez" which is completely false
The league approves it, more Toronto Bills games through 2017. I suppose its a good thing for all involved, Bills fans will actually be able to watch their game on TV for once in Buffalo and Merriman can pick up his steroids again. Now they just need to put a Maple Leaf on that helmet next to that "moving" Buffalo to make it more accurate.
It's embarrassing. They absolutely should put a maple leaf on the helmet, just as the Jets should have a "J" in place of the "Y".
Sounds like you're one of the more uninformed people on this matter. If only you knew what you didn't know, you'd know you're embarrassing yourself.
Buffalo fans did not sell out a home game after week 9 last season. Week 9. Three blackouts in 2010 as well. Take away your token Toronto game ("Oh GOD NO!! $$$$$$$$ - Ralph C. Wilson Jr.) and thats almost HALF of your home games not sold out in Buffalo the last two seasons. I'm sorry the truth hurts and I personally know the Bills have a loyal, die-hard(although sometimes toothless) fan base but don't act like I'm the one embarrassing myself with that post that was pretty damn true. When you are playing out the string again this november, crowded around your radio listening to the 4-8 Vince Young-led Bills on 103.3 the Edge remember this post//
^^^ Bills over Jets (lame moniker btw): Looks like Browning's brought you an early November -- stop digging.
What's the deal with you guys and Toronto? Do you realize Bills fans are in SUPPORT of that initiative? We get millions of dollars to play a meaningless game there a year, which allows us the flexibility to go out and get guys like Mario Williams, while you're stuck with Aaron Maybin as your best pass rusher LOL. We've increased season ticket sales in the Ontario region by 44%, and earned millions of dollars in merchandise sales. Seriously, why WOULDNT you play 1 game a year there? Its like free money!
You do know that playing a game in Toronto doesn't effect either the salary cap or floor for your team ? The only reason you guys got Williams was the NFLs new salary floor forced your cheap ass owner to spend some money. Also lets see how much the Bills fans like this initiative when they start playing 8 meaningless games a year there. You know its gonna happen, its inevitable
We'll that seals the deal for me... I've lost all respect for you. I know plenty of real, die-hard Bills fans and you are the ONLY one I've EVER heard that supports the Toronto initiative. Most actual Buffalo people despise that they have to lose a home game ever year to Canada, which makes a lot of sense. A regular season NFL game is not meaningless ever. They either HATE it or are just okay with it because it hopefully means they can keep their team, but that still makes them feel uneasy. The only people in their right minds that support the Toronto initiative are Toronto people - are you from Toronto? If not why do you give a flying shit about the money the Bills earn and merchandise sales????? It all goes straight to the owner's box so your shitty senile owner can get another housekeeper to wipe his ass. You guys actually signed players this offseason because in the new CBA you are going to be required to actually spend money soon instead of going on the cheap every year so your F.O. decided to get an early jump on that. To say Toronto helped you sign Mario Williams is so wrong and so laughable because you guys could've been signing Mario Williamses for years. Also, even if I was a fan and believed that Toronto helped the Bills sign him, I certainly wouldn't be proud of that HAHA
So when the Jets succeed it's in spite of Sanchez. When they fail - it's only because of Sanchez? Got it...
Yes, obviously there is a salary cap and it can't increase. Thanks for stating the obvious. What I'm saying is, even though there is a ceiling that is capped, the Bills have not been in a position financially to spend to that limit because they weren't making much net profit. Because of the Toronto deal, the Bills have more cash to use to spend to the limit.
Bills fans, including me, hated the Toronto thing when it first happened because we thought it was a precursor to moving to Toronto. We all thought the owner was getting one foot in the door and would eventually move. Now, we all understand the Toronto move is necessary to KEEP the Bills in Buffalo. You have no idea what you're talking about regarding the financials of the Bills, so read my last post I replied to another Jets fan with. It may help you out a little.
