So are you just going to ignore the Gilmore stuff or what?

You realize that by ProFootballFocus' rating system, Gilmore rated out as the 79th best cornerback in the NFL in 2012?

His overall rating for the season was a -4.3. They consider a 0.0 rating to be average.

Don't get me wrong, he played well in his rookie year and is great in coverage, but to suggest he is a top flight corner in the league ALREADY is a statement of hyperbolic proportions ...

Just thought I would lend a little perspective before he lets facts get in the way of a good story.

Do you even know what that ranking is? Its based on what they call "yards per coverage snap" which makes no sense, because it was the only thing they could think of to evaluate cornerbacks. To give you an example of how stupid it is, the "best corner" in the NFL last season according to that list was Bradley Fletcher. That's right...

    1. Bradley Fletcher
    2. Ladarius Webb
    3. Nate Clements
    4. Champ Bailey
    5. Prince Amukamara
    6. Leodis McKelvin
    7. Robert McClain (who?)
    8. Leon Hall
    9. Chris Harris Jr. (who?)
    10. Antoine Winfield
    10. Brandon Browner
    12. Chris Culliver
    13. Mike Harris (who?)
    14. Mike Jenkins (the guy that was so bad he was run out of Dallas)

No Revis. I guess Revis sucks?

But yeah, don't take the experts who watch every snap of every cornerback in the NFL and then rank them.... take the guys who dont watch film, and instead divide yards by snaps.

It only ranks corners that playes over 200 snaps so thats why Revis wasn't on there ...

The guy led ALL corners in penalties. His coverage rating was in the top half of the league and averaged to missing 1 tackle every 17 attempts (ranked 9th for corners). QBs had about a 90 rating when throwing against him.

Again, I think he is already good and should get better with Pettine, but he is not in elite status yet.
