Most likely as sad as it is. But I rather remain optimistic. Kolb is garbage and I wish they would let Tuel start one of the remaining two games. Know that's not going to happen either though.
Ahhh, the yearly Bills are gonna be great thread. Its the same every year. The reason the Bills never go anywhere is because noone plays them when they are hot. in April
Bill trolls??...you there???? QB Kevin Kolb out of the Bills-Redskins preseason game after suffering "concussion-like" symptoms after getting kneed in the back of the head at the end of a scrambling run. In only two series Kolb had already shown a skittish tendency to run out of the pocket, and it apparently caught up with him. Jeff Tool is is now in at QB and the Bills are presently losing 20-7. Since EJ Manuel is out after a knee proceedure, the Bills will probably look to pick up another QB from a list that includes Tyler Thigpen, Matt Leinart and JaLardkus Russell. Things looking up in Vegas-on-Erie.
Both QBs will be ready for week 1, so it doesnt really matter that we are signing a QB to play in the 4th preseason game. At this point, because Kolb has looked worse than most QBs except for Sanchez and Geno Smith, I'm sure Manuel will get the start week 1 despite not playing since week 2 of the preseason. I expect him to look rusty and rough against New England in his first NFL start, with limited reps. But at this point, its still better than Kolb.
So basically between our 2 teams, we have 0 NFL caliber QBs right now. Future is definitely looking bright for us
So we both have 0 NFL caliber QBs right now. My point haha. Manuel will be an interesting player to watch. You have some explosive players around him too.
Yeah, I think he'll need a few weeks to feel comfortable and get back in the grove since he's been out. I fully expect Belichick to take advantage of him in week one. As long as we don't lose Spiller, I think EJ should be ok just "managing the game" until he learns and gets more experience.

Tim Graham @ByTimGraham 15m Source tells me Bills concerned Kevin Kolb's concussion may be career-ending and they're proceeding with that in mind. Uh oh, that's bad news.
Bad news for who? Not for the Bills or their fans . That guy was garbage. I'm glad we can just go with EJ from day one, and ride him through his struggles. I'm not glad Kolb's career might be over, just glad he's not going to start early in the season. I thought the Bills might go with Kolb for the first few games and then ease EJ in. I didn't want to watch Kolb for the first few weeks.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000234190/article/buffalo-bills-acquire-thaddeus-lewis-from-detroit-lions Man, the backup QB situation in Orchard Park is brutal right now.....
Who really cares? We're probably not going to the playoffs this year with a healthy EJ, so we're certainly not going if any backup needs to play. Tuel is fine, he's played well. The backups around the league suck, for most teams.
Tuel is OK, but he still has to work on progressions. I'm more worried about the fact that Leinart may actually make the squad. That's pretty bad, but I guess we could find some of the surprise cuts from other teams once the 53 man rosters are set.
Leinart will make the squad especially if they're parting ways with Kolb. But why is that "pretty bad?" Is Kolb that much better than Leinart? Look at the backup QBs around the league, they all suck. Hell, look on this board. The Jets have Sanchez, Smith, McElroy and Simms. Is Leinart really any different? Shitty backup QBs are a dime a dozen. We're just moving on to the next one.
Because with Leinart, you know what you got. At least with Lewis, there is some hope he may pan out. But I get you, when you're talking #2 and #3 QB's, there's room to shake your head.
I dont think we're "hoping any of them pan out." You're not looking for a franchise QB as a 2nd or 3rd stringer. All you want is someone who won't kill you with turnovers and mistakes and keep you in the game. Good teams/playoff teams need to find the best backups they can, for fear an injury to their starter will cripple their playoff chances. When you're the Bills or Jets, it doesn't really matter if your backup is Kevin Kolb or Jamarcus Russell. In all likelihood, they'll never hit the field in the regular season anyway. Its just a safety net. Manuel will be the guy, and if he goes down, I'd bet Tuel would be the next up, which I'm fine with. He's shown me enough to prove he belongs in this league as a backup and isn't a total moron/jackass that's going to give the game away like a Losman, Sanchez, etc. Leinart and Lewis would only hit the field if both Manuel and Tuel are out. And since we wouldn't be in a playoff race anyway, it doesn't really matter.
Kind of a bittersweet symphony with Kolb most likely going to retire. Glad he's gone but I do pray for his well being, he never did anything douchey to disrespect him. I don't care who backs up EJ, if he went down we would be screwed no matter what. I'm more concerned with our CB depth especially with Gilmore missing the first 4-6 games of the season now.
