Excellent, superb information. That's why I wan Rex to be the guy for the Jets. I frankly don't much care if he leaves 99% of the decision making on offense to MM. MM is the coordinator we have been waiting for. Rex is smart enough to know when to intervene and call the shots and when not to. I have a hunch 10 games win the division this year.
I see a lot of heavy fronts, 4-6, 4-3, on early downs, Buddy Ryan type shit. Rex will stick to his guns, balls to the wall, all out 85 bears type schemes. Our personnel isn't close yet, but I see Rex's influence on draft day taking shape on our defense. We got conservative and couldn't take chances on defense the last two years due to our quarterbacks turnover issues, and our aging defensive personnel. Rex isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I believe. Can't wait to watch every game, watching the defense is gonna be fun.
Our offense will be dictated by our newly added offensive linemen. If we run well, sancho will have a year like this, 18tds, 11int, 2800 yards. 10-11 games is a huge reach, but I would love it!!! 7-8 wins sounds about right. Geno may win in camp, be the starter, complete 60% of his passes, run for some yards, score some tds, throw for 20 plus tds, keep his turnover total below 10, throw for 2800-3000 yards, and we will be in the playoffs. I guarantee that geno's rookie year as starter couldn't be worse than nacho's.
Rex Ryan as our fulltime defensive play caller? As should be. I've continued to tell myself over the years, that coach Ryan made his mark as an NFL defensive guru. Known around the league as a defensive genius. Respected by all-time greats such as Ed Reed and Ray Lewis due to his ability to lead a defense from the sidelines. Bart Scott followed him from Baltimore here to New York. Revis emerged as an all-time great under coach Ryan etc. Ryan calling our defensive plays to me, is a no brainer. If it weren't for Ryan's success as a defensive coordinator, he would have never been in position to become an NFL head coach to begin with. Which is why, I've never understood over the years why Rex Ryan wasn't calling our actual (defensive) plays come Sunday's. He's here because of his knowledge and insight as a defensive leader. After our loss of Revis, now it's time for Ryan to lead. During our 2009 season Ryan was our defensive play caller. Our defense was fun to watch. In 2010 Ryan still called lots of plays, but not as much as in 2009. Then 2011/2012 came and Ryan was no longer calling our plays as in 2009-2010. Never made any sense to me. Ryan may have lots to worry about as an NFL coach, may be lots on his plate outside of calling defensive plays, but as a defensive mastermind... Calling defensive plays from the sidelines is his job. As is with the Saints head coach in Sean Payton for the Saints offense. Strong head coach/great play caller. Same goes for Ryan. Let our offensive coordinator along with our offensive coaches worry about the offensive aspect of the game, while coach Ryan puts more focus into the defensive end; as should be. I don't want a defensive coordinator calling our plays from the sidelines. No, not when we have coach Ryan here who's a defensive guru within his own right.
well i guess the cats out of the bag now... don't think its a secret that the jets will have to play hi risk hi reward football especially on D. think back to the bears and ravens as good examples of hi reward defenses that got numerous turnovers and continued to put their pedestrian offenses in good field positions.
