While I still disagree with you on the comparison issue, I do agree that the Jets should not overreact. I am not saying fire Mangini now and let Schotty coach for the last two weeks. I am saying that I don't think Mangini is getting the most out of this team. I think that's pretty easy to agree on as the Jets have a ton of talent but aren't producing as well as they should on the field.

If the Jets make the playoffs this year, I can't see getting rid of Mangini. But if they somehow don't make the playoffs, then I absolutely think he should be fired. With this roster and this schedule, not making the playoffs is unacceptable.

    I have to admit though...

If this team loses out on the playoffs to Parcells and Chad Pennington, it'll rank right up there...

To me, the Denver playoff game was the ultimate low but, this would be right there...

    And...

I agree with everything spot on except regarding your first sentence. I have thouroughly enjoyed this season. There was a short burst were we thought we might have a dominating team but reality is we beat NE in a must game, we beat Buffalo twice, beat Miami have a great shot to win out and in the process eliminate both Miami and NE from the playoffs, last weeks game was an emotional roller coster where we actually got the breaks it was like we won the "Heidi" game from 68.

We aren't the 85 Bears, The Niners dynasty or the Steelers but we are in the mix we have moments of great play, the games are pretty exciting and we're in the hunt. Do I think we can go far? Probably not becuase of all the defiencies you noted but frustrating? This season is a gas, even the off season was a gas. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Not a knock on your post which I think is outstanding!

For any frustrations this year, last year was almost as bad as the Kotite years. When Chad was in there the games were unwatchable - you cringed every time he threw the ball. And remember that play where Clarke played turnstile and Clemens got crushed? Awful, awful football, for the most part.

Not saying this year is perfect, but to call it the most difficult, coming right after a truly terrible year like last year, is somewhat over the top.

Where I can relate is to compare the hopes and hype to the reality - yeah, that has been a bit frustrating, but imo really only the two losses after the Tits game. The early season troubles did not surprise me.

The reason i say this is one of the most difficult is because it started with such high expectations.
Getting Fanaca, Pace, Jenkins, and Favre! How could we NOT win the AFC EAST?

I am just embarassed by the way we've played these last few games, and in all our losses, for that matter. We weren't even competative, except maybe the Pats game.

The only other disappointment that ranks up there with me , is the year Vinny got hurt. That was also a year of high hopes.
Now i know there were a lot of disappointments for us Jets fans, but i'm speaking of the feeling you get, at the start of a season you think just might be something special. We don't get that feeling all that often.

Theres nothing can be done right now, so why waste time complaining about it? Maybe, just maybe, it turns out alright?

You expected us to win the AFCE while Brady was still healthy?
