Safeties and TE's do have a relatively high floor. This is why you can find really good ones in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with some regularity.
Eric Berry and Earl Thomas were first round picks and completely changed the dynamics of their defense. Draft may have similar players in Adams and Hooker. Not trading down for a lesser player for the sake of more picks, that we could very well miss on. We need leaders and these two guys can help change the face of the team. They are that good. Same with the TE; this is a deep TE class, but Howard is more athletically gifted and a better blocker then the majority of the prospects. you can maybe make an argument for trading down should you select a TE, but I think our new coordinator wants the best available TE and we need all the help we can get.
Unless there was a sure fire QB prospect available at 6, trading down is far and away the best option, no matter who makes it to 6. This Browns rumor is so good that I'm pretty sure it has no chance of happening. Hope it does as it would basically give us a do over on the horrible Hack pick and it could be the perfect spot to take a Mahomes and hopefully once and for all solve the one position that can drastically change the outlook on this franchise.
