Maybe I'm being too cute picking the Vikings in my suicide pool this week when the Seahawks are the safest bet known to man...but the Seahawks are a safe bet just about every week at home anyway, while I'd never want to pick the Vikings again.

I doubt they would ever get more than a 1st for Richardson.

Not sure where you are getting this from, because trade values are historically higher during the season than in the offseason. During the season, after injuries mount, teams who are in need will pay more for a healthy play maker. Look no further than the ill fated Roy Williams deal to see what a desperate, silly owner will do.

In the off season teams have several ways to improve. The draft, free agency, and trades are all in play. Right now if you need a player it's the scrap heap or over pay.

I feel that way too. I had Denver picked, & my gut tells me to stick with them. It's too tempting not to "waste" the Broncos when you can potentially steal a week with a Minnesota home game against a lowly Browns team in transition. As of now, Minny is my pick. We'll see if I get cold feet before week's end.

Yeah I have Denver this week as well in suicide. It's tempting to switch, but I don't trust the Vikings enough. The Browns D has been decent, but losing Richardson is a big hit. I could see the Browns beating the Steelers for what it's worth.

Colts are sick now. They have the #1 and #3 pick from last year's draft. Talk about lucky.

This is a smart move by the Browns. They are trading T Rich when his value is the highest. It'll be years before they are good. Shelf life for RB is short and they are interchangeable, not worth paying the big money unless their name is AP, McCoy or Spiller. Even look at Houston with Foster, Ben Tate can step in any given Sunday and put up 100 yards on his own. Building a team around a running back is not the way to go in the modern NFL and the Browns finally realized it.

I dont believe that anyone would give up a 1 + 3 for a RB when the new consensus is you can get great backs in rds 4 + 5

I dont think this is a great move for the Colts - its not like they are 1 player away from being a SB contender or playing with a great QB in the twilight of his career like Peyton or Brady - they are rebuilding around a very young QB with awesome potential - they would have been much better keeping the pick and building slowly

because they may prefer one of the other QBs over Bridgewater (the consensus #1 pick might change 5 times between now and April) or may want to get Clowney and a QB later on?

His value was the highest when they traded up to draft him at #3 last year lol. It's insane, you don't draft a guy #3 overall (yeah yeah I know, different GM) and then trade him a year later for a mid-first 'at best'. Especially when he hasn't even been that bad all things considered - one receiver and no QB around him.

People keep talking about only needing a mid-late round pick to find a back...problem with that is there's a million of those guys every year and only a handful hit. You can't know which ones. When you have a guy that's clearly an NFL back still young and making pittance money, you don't trade him for another maybe.

It's also not like Richardson's 30 years old where they gave up a first for a short-term fix. They gave up a first for a guy who IS going to be part of their plans the next seven years, or at least should be. That's what you want out of high draft picks. And they know he's an NFL running back, they're not projecting it.

The only thing you can really criticize them for is they still haven't built any kind of a defense. Which is kinda the same thing they did in the Peyton era ironically enough - constantly soup up the offense at the expense of the D.
