Yeah, but who else have we drafted in the 5th round- or around it? 2013- 5th Oday Aboushi, 6th William Campbell 2012- 6th Robert Griffin, Terrance Ganaway, Josh Bush 2011- 5th Jeremy Kerley, 4th Bilal Powell 2010- 4th Joe Mcknight, 5th John Conner 2009- 5th Matt Slauson 2008- 4th Dwight Lowery, 5th Eric Ainge, 6th Marcus Henry So as you can see, our track record isnt very great. Jeremy Kerley is by far the best player we have drafted in the 4th-5th round range, yet he's only an above slot receiver. Powell plays a big role, but thats pretty much because we dont really have a true #1 there. He's just a guy that does everything pretty well, but nothing very well. No one before 2011 is on the team, and outside of the 2 players I previously named, I dont see any major contributors, even though its early. Aboushi looked like garbage in the preseason and Campbell is a major project being a defensive tackle converted to OL. So as Ive been saying, I would trade a 5th round pick for Josh Gordon in a heartbeat. He has the chance to be a legitimate #1 WR if he stays out of trouble. Its a low risk - high reward move. I study the draft a good amount, and later round picks actually arent that likely to hit. We have a better track record with UDFA's.
I think we offer a 4th and a contract that is loaded with "stay out of trouble" clauses. If at the end of each playing year he is trouble free, he gets a whooping bonus in addition to his salary, if he gets suspended or thrown in jail, his contract is null and void. He could be the equivalent of the best WR to be had in the 1st round of the 2014 draft under the proper set of conditions.
Nah, pass thanks. I've really had enough of these prats that can't stay out of trouble. Blessed with talent and opportunity they choose to behave like clueless children and have no place in the NFL
Holmes, Gordon and and a big bag o' weed. This is like one of those algebra puzzles where you have a rowboat that can only hold you and one of the other 3 and you have to get all 3 over to the other side of the river. If left alone, Gordon will smoke the weed, etc., ........
The first 3 picks are the only ones that matter when it comes to the Jets ,who cares about 5 th round picks and we aren't taking a recover in round 1 that'll never happen
Gordon is a stud. You make that deal in a heartbeat and you'll be getting him for a discount. Jets better be looking at this.
YeA well they are having a yard sale on talent nothing safe . The owner may trade his kidney for a bikini wax at this point
Gordon would come in and be our number 1 receiver. He's a headcase but I would trade a 5th for him for sure. Hard to imagine any 5th round pick having more upside than Gordon.
A 5th rounder for this kid could be a steal. The amount of room that will open up underneath would be a insane.
Adam Schefter: cleveland fielding trades for josh gordon Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 10h Cleveland fielding offers for and open to trading WRs Josh Gordon and Greg Little. At least one team has made a quality offer for Gordon. look, i know people here love their draft picks, but josh gordon is actually an extremely talented wide receiver. i wonder if john idzik is looking into this if the price is right, this could potentially be a good trade for the jets
We just had a game with 2 receivers going for over 100 yards, lets hold off on these type of decisions. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
Gordon cost CLE a high 2 so they won't settle for anything outside of a 1st unless its like a 2nd and 4th or 2nd and 3rd. In other words, Gordon is great but we need those picks. Maybe the Two 3rd's for Gordon if CLE bites on it.
