Based on what are you saving Chad will be ready 1/3 way thru the season?
    His Word?

This is the same chad who said he was ready to start last season..anyone with 2 eyeballs (except obviously Herm) could see with each lollipop throw that he was in no way ready.
Much like when he came back in 2004 because Herm pushed him and he was clearly not ready (forget the playoffs..that was defense and special teams driven).

The truth is we have no way of knowing but i dont like the odds of a soft toss QB coming back from 2 shoulder surgeries.

And Chad shouldn't wait for that phone call from Herm when he is cut..if Chad can't save his butt Herm will drop him like a bad penny (pun very much intended)!

    Brooks Bollinger

I think bolly can get the job done. Hes a quick, gritty, impuslive QB with great instincts and a solid arm. Obviously we haven't seen him play in any meaningful games, but nobody should be writing him off so quickley.

We're rebuilding. Draft the best QB prospect, let him start from day one and let him learn on the job.

If by "our" you mean the Dallas Desperodos of the AFL then I agree with you. But the JETS...no

I totally agree we would be OK with Bollinger as our QB. He improved every game and played quite well in a couple of games. This is without an OL and with Herm and Heimerdinger literally throwing him under the bus with their horrible scheme and the fact that they just gave up. (Herm proved himself this year to be a horrible, horrible coach, and the offensive problems we have had lie on him as much as Hackett or Dinger)

The thing I notice with Brooks, is so many people want him to be the scapegoat for last season, and cannot see past the fact he was essentially a rookie QB playing under horrific circumstances. If he were a first round pick, no one would have a problem with his performance. He was certainly better than Eli was in his rookie season. He showed mobility, good touch, and the ability to get the ball downfield. He struggled in the redzone, but that was scheme as much as anything there and the fact Martin could not perform this year despite being played continuously by loser Herm.

I live in San Diego, and see a lot of similarities between Brooks and Brees. Brees became a pro bowler after having most of San Diego feel as negative towards him as people are here to Brooks. In Brees case, one of the big changes was of course Gates. When I look at this draft, I see Vernon Davis being that type of player. I think he should be our first pick, and give Bollinger a chance. With Davis, Mangold and another OT in the early parts of the draft, we can fix our offense with Brooks at the helm overnight. Dynamic players like Davis create incredible mismatches, and by teams having to account for him it takes defensive attention away from the RBs and WRs so the offense opens up more. Plus, we have the perfect OC to exploit the advantages Davis gives us.

    So my take is:

    1. Go with Brooks I think he may turn out to be a very very good QB
    2. Draft Davis and OL to shore up the offense and give him the support he needs

Yeah Brooks was phenomanal against Carolina. He was 4 of 4 when it came to throwing consecutive interceptions on back to back to back to back drives.

Is there any bigger example of blatant homerism than Jet fans actually thinking Bollinger is an NFL-caliber QB who can "win some games". At best he's a caretaker QB (a poor poor man's Trent Dilfer circa 2000 Ravens) at worst he is an interception machine who inspires zero confidence with the coaching staff, players and fans.

Well, I'd say the "Play Chad" crowd has a slight edge over us Bolly-backers. At least our guy can throw ten yards upfield.

And I guess this defines Brooks right? You conveniently leave out the fact that he was behid a patch work line and Carolina was in our backfield before the feaking snap. There are plently of games when Farve throws multiple interceptions. Does that define him as well?

Yeah right. This guy's ego is through the freaking roof, it's so obvious. Apparently, Jay Mohr agreed when he gave out his zero awards to 4 athletes, and Pennington was one of them. Another was Bode Miller. Get the picture? Jay Mohr may not be the oracle of all things sports, but he knows a class A martyr complex when he sees one.

I didn't realize what a tool Chad was until after the seattle game in 2004 when he started his press conference off with "this is how it's going to be" -- right then and there I said to myself, "this dude is an arrogant a**hole". Period, end of sentence.

Don't be blinded by his whole BS story about how he's going to bring a championship back to NY and all that malarkey. He's a self-centered pariah who is trying to convince the world that he's just fine after 2 consecutive rotator cuff tears... are you guys serious about this?

Exactly. This dude is just proving the point that Brooks' stats were severely hampered by a single bad game. He's essentially a rookie QB -- did anyone scream foul when Eli Manning had like 14 yards passing in one of his first games?

I haven't been around Chad enough to fully judge what kind of a person he truly is, but I do know that given his injury propensity and especially with him coming off of 2 rotator cuff surgeries in 8 months, one certainly would be foolish to hang the team's future on his shoulders.

The Jets are dong the right thing. Get him to come down in price. HE will be given a chance to come back, but I realistically cannot see him excelling here. It is not just the tears, but the guy will have only been involved in 3 professional football games in 22 months as of September 2006. There is nobody that can come out and be sharp as nails mechanics wise and game wise after that kind of layoff. I don't see this working out, but stranger things have happened.

At least by restructuring the Jets pave the way for the future without Chad and that is probably more important than the future with Chad right now.

Personally I think Chad will come back from the injury and I think he will excel. However if he is not fully healed and is thrown behind a patchwork line, I don't give him much of a chance. I would really like to see Chad wait 12 full months before throwing again. It really does take a year to get back to normalcy with ligament damage in the shoulder. The is the whole reason I want to see Brooks start the season.
