That ref was reaching in his pocket as soon as it happened probably because Hill grabbed Holmes jersey before he grabbed the facemask. If your not going to call it there you may as well take it out of the books.

Yeah, you are right. I was thinking at the time that was the quickest flag in history. It hit the ground at almost the same time that the ball did.

It was text book PI. That flag was instant, it's not like he needed to think about it. I just wanna punch people who say it was a gift. A gift would have been if there had been no PI and it was thrown. I know dam well if you replace Jets with Colts ESPN is going nuts on Monday morning saying there needs to be a rule change had that flag not been thrown.

Of course my friends who root for other teams like the Giants tell me the Jets were "Lucky" to win. They look at the last PI call on Holmes and say it was questionable.

The bottom line being they didn't watch the entire game like a dedicated Die Hard Jets fan would. Those that watch the entire game understand the way the refs were nit-picking PI calls against the Jets, and a non-call there would of really brought into question if these refs were betting on the Bronco's.

I would bet many of the Bronco fans crying about the PI on Holmes fall into the category of seeing the highlights, and actually didn't watch the entire game to understand the precedent set for PI calls earlier in the game.

That sure was a blatant PI call on Holmes no matter how questionable the earlier calls were ...

The Jets were given a gift... from Renaldo Hill, not the referees.

If it had been halfway through the 3rd quarter, no one would think twice about that being pass interference. Sour grapes.

I don't see it as a gift. I wish he hadn't interfered and Holmes caught it.

Even though I do not consider a true PI call a gift, after the numerous gifts the refs gave the Broncos all game it was about time the Jets got a real call.

watching the replay I think is fair to assume that he would had caught it AND he would've made it to the end zone... he was standing watching the ball coming straight to his hands and Hill was totally lost.

And then we're all talking about the great comeback led by Sanchez and the great catch by Holmes instead of this horse shit. The asshole interfered, and was properly penalized for it.

    Yes.

This is one of those cases where we as Jet fans should not care about what the fans of other teams say. F them.

I do wish the league looked at the quality of officiating in that game, though. It needs to improve, and blatantly bad work like that should not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Do I have confidence the league will do that, though? No.

It's a gift in the sense that it was a totally boneheaded play by Hill that gave away the drive. If the reverse happened and Drew Coleman had done that this place would be going absolutely berserk about how Coleman sucks and how the Jets gave the game away.

The penalty is irrelevant imo because it was justified and legitimate.

For my money, it should have been PI and grabbing the facemask.

I understand your point completely. I see it as more of a thorn in the side though. Fuck Hill for interfering when we could have won the game without that.
