Brilliant bit of mindwork by the front office?

All the Cutler talk was a matter of pressuring Pennington. The Leinart talk, and the Patrick Ramsey talk, and all of that talk, was to get Pennington to bargain on the Jets terms. No one betrays their intentions like that IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COMBINE.

I hope they can fleece somebody for the #4 pick they way Bradway gave up a fortune for it in 2003.

I used to think that we had #4 in a three horse race. But really, this draft has great top end talent for whatever a team is looking for:

Need a QB? This draft offers 3 QBs who, depending on which Mock you like can go as high as #2 overall.
Need a LB? Hawk is projected to have an Urlacher like impact
O-Line? Get a franchise LT in Ferguson
DT? With 3-4 being all the rage, this kid from Oregon state will be a great NT.
DE? Super Mario is said to be the next Peppers.
    RB? Bush
TE? How about one who can catch, is a plus blocker and... runs a 4.38 40.

The only position where there really isn't top tier talent is WR. But I don't think the Jets should even think about that until Sunday April 30.

true, hadnt really thought about it like that. If we do get another top 15 draft pick, i would love D'Brick & Vernon Davis in the first. Mangold in the second. THey may not be the most exciting picks, but IMO they're best for the franchise

I wouldn't get to excited about the new FO. They appear to have badly bungled the Mawae release. I have no problem with getting rid of Mawae but get some value for him. If you can trade Cowart for a 7th rounder one would certainly think you could get as much or more for Mawae. At the very least keep him around for a bit and see if you can get a taker.

So far they haven't done a thing except move some money around.

A 10 year old can get under the cap by letting quality players go. Jets have done that the last two years.. Jordan, McKenzie, Moss, Ferguson, Becht, Abraham, Law, Mawae, Sowell. None have been replaced by a better player.

The front office hasn't changes. Bradwy is still evalauting the players, Tannenbaum writes the contracts.

Don't expect this draft to be any different since all the evaluations are being made by Bradway and the same scouting staff. Mangini is no factor in the draft, he never bothered to go to the Senior Bowl and wasn't among the Jets staff present when they interviewed Jay Cutler at the combine.

The Jets have overall drafted badly since Bradway was hired, doesn't look that it will change this year.

Yak, yak, yak. The Redskins can't get out from under the cap, no matter who they cut. Wrong again, jensen, as usual.

Jordan, McKenzie, Ferguson, Becht becoming FA's may have been partly because of cap problems but not signing them was not because of the salary cap but because we did not want to overpay to keep them. Mawae's release was not cap releated either.
